Africa: Disabled People 'at Significantly Increased Risk' of HIV Infection - allAfrica.com

Major gaps in national HIV/Aids prevention campaigns and treatment programs have made disabled people more vulnerable to HIV infection than their non-disabled counterparts, researchers for the World Bank/Yale University Global Survey on HIV/Aids and Disability reported Monday in a presentation of their preliminary findings for World Aids Day.

I am the guardian of a disabled adult who is HIV positive. I do not think they teach disabled adults enough about HIV and Aids. Many times it takes years to find out that a person is disabled. Sometimes they act or get worse over time. When I first met the disabled adult who is in my home I did not know they where disabled. Many times when a person is not on medication they are a different person. I have an idea how many disabled adults get HIV. I think some are drugged, black out, rapped, tricked, obtain HIV by drug use or get it in prison. The person in my home was not on medication at the time and moved in with this guy. The main told the person in my home he had cancer but he looked like he had HIV. The man used to be a teacher or principal in Charlotte, North Carolina. I know his first name was Pate. He got in a fight with the disabled adult and a bunch of blood was exchanged. This is how the disabled adult got HIV in my home. The main who had HIV also used to let prostitutes live in his home. He also had sex with them for money. The man also had sex with boys under 16. This goes on all over the place.
