The price of sugar has been increased by 250 Francs per a kilo. The price was initially maintained at 750 francs by the government. This rise was decided by the SOSUMO, a local company that produces sugar on Tuesday 14 August 2007. The company indicates that the rise was caused by the devaluation of the local currency as well as the rise of the price of some products that are imported from abroad.
