The Barentu-Shambuko road that was unsuitable for transportation is now under repair. According to Mr. Teki'e Keleta, head of infrastructure in Gash-Barka region, the old road running through Barentu-Sossina-Ashoshi-Karkasha-Binbina-Shambuko is now being replaced by a new road network that passes through Barentu-Kona-Kuluku-Karna-Binbina-Shambuko.
