As freedom of the press continues to deteriorate in many developing countries, at least three journalists a month are fleeing their homelands to escape threats of violence or death, imprisonment or harassment, the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said recently, putting the number of those who had fled their countries between July 2001 and June 2007 at 243.
