Ethiopia: Eritrea - Who Knew? - The Reporter

In what has so far been a widely overlooked arena in the war on terrorism, the Horn of Africa has emerged as a pivotal region for the prosecution of America's long struggle against jihadist extremism. However, this should not be surprising, as al-Qaeda has long been a player in the region.

mr. clay's intentional distortion of the facts speaks volumes even to such a lay-man like me. his intended target may have been the american public, but even long before the good dr. martin luthere has said it, has an attention span of two weeks at max, however, when i search the web and specially such as all africa i naively expect to read and be informed. mr. has failed to disclose key facts and as far as i can tell he has only told as of being a united states citizen; just as i am. the nature of politics is indeed much complicated and has a many sophostcated aspect, for that i hold no qualifications.the basics however are there to see wether pro or anti ethiopian one may be. the case of somalia has been made worst than it was, and a nightmare made in america; of course if the desired effect was to be otherwise. the war in somalia has nothing to do with curbing the treat of terrerism against america or neighboring countries, i.e, ethiopia or any other. however by hastly ordering ethiopia to occupay somali land and resort to solve the problem by force has compounded the already dreded situation there. the question is then what does ethiopia gain from chaotic somalia and what does the us benefit from such chaotic state? terrerism can only be welcomed as boon to the bush adminstration and its many faced allies. such as ethiopia and the desperate regime in that poor peoples state.

Clay, when was the plane made 13 flights from Asmara to Mogadishu? I wanted to know the exact date. So that I will carry on with my comment. "Eritrea has been fingered as a source of arms for these insurgents. In a July report by the United Nations Monitoring Group on Somalia, Eritrea was blamed as a major weapons supplier. Specific accusations revolved around a plane that made 13 flights from Eritrea's capital Asmara to Mogadishu and the importation of SA-18 surface-to-air-missiles."

To my understanding, Eritrea is just supporting the people of Somalia to unite. It is looking for the integration of the country regardless of the race, ethnicity, religion and so on. It is not in her agenda to support members of Al-Qaeda to attack Washington.

Eritrea is the first country in Africa who fought against Jihadist Extremism. That is the reason it is supporting rebels in Southern of Sudan who are Christians.

Obviously, Eritrea is disappointed in US. Because it is failed to put pressure on Ethiopia to accept the ruling ( the decision of the Border Commission). What I am trying to say is it is up to US to bring peace in the region. Unfortunately, it is not its cup of tea.

I leave this question to you - Who is behind the dilemma? Eritrea, US, Ethiopia or Somalia itself?

how do you know whethter or not this country is harboring terrorists or not? this is ridiculous. you say it almost as if eritrea made a public anouncement saying it is a state sponsor of terrorism.the world, especially the USA, has been against eritrea ever since it began to defy ethiopa while ethiopia had good relations with the USA.i hope your doing this just because your cheif editor told you too, because your ignorance is sickening.
