I agree with some descriptions of the general situation on the continent of
Africa. However, I do not share Farah's biased views of the Democratic
Republic of Congo when he writes, I quote,"the central government is not
legitimate". This is a governement that has been elected freely by the
Congolese people for the first time since 1960. All the institutions in
DRC have been democratically elected, from the presidency to the national
assembly. What makes a government legitimate? In 2011 there will be
elections in DRCongo. Nobody knows when elections will take place in
Rwanda, Uganda, Libya, etc.
I would like to encourage the author of this article to be more objective
and to inform the world rather than intoxicate the public with unfounded
statements.
