There has been a definite change in leadership of the ANC but it is hoped
that this should not have any negative effects on the impressive progress
there has been achieved by the former leadership of Thabo Mbeki. The new
team of the ANC should be conscious of the fact that besides south
Africans, black Africans outside south Africa are looking up to the south
Africa and the ANC as the vanguard of Africa. As shown by the
demonstration in south Africa a few months ago, people tend to expect
magical quick fix of a decade or less to completely eradicate poverty in
the country by the government. With the immensity of layers of intertwined
impediments that has been built into the system for over a century, this
expectation is absolutely an impossibility to attain. It is expected that
a deft planner with foresight will have to plan and build a solid reliable
foundation on which the new system can stand. To an observer following the
progress of South Africa, this looks like the approach of Thabo Mbeki.
Hopefully, this foundation will not be adversely affected by any change in
leadership. One area of Thabo Mbeki's policy which deserves special
mention and praise, is his dogged resistance towards the propaganda about
AIDS/HIV where despite non-existent rational cause-effect scenario or
efficient causality foreign interests were pushing him to spend billions of
dollars unnecessarilly to the detriment of the South Africa. For an
analysis of AIDS/HIV situation in Africa see the book 'CALL A SPADE A
SPADE, US, CIA & AFRICA', published by West African Book Publishers Ltd.,
Ilupeju, Lagos State, Nigeria.
