East Africa: UN Mission Calls On Ethiopia, Eritrea to Show Restraint After Shooting Incident - UN News Service

The United Nations peacekeeping mission monitoring the ceasefire between Ethiopia and Eritrea today called on both sides to show maximum restraint after a shooting incident in the border area where the two countries fought a two-year war that ended in 2000.

Peter Heinlein, VOA | December 18, 2007. "That two-year war ended in December, 2000, with the two sides agreeing to allow an international boundary commission to settle their dispute. But when the commission two years later handed down its decision, awarding Badme to Eritrea, Ethiopia refused to accept it. After five more years of trying, the boundary commission gave up and closed its doors at the end of November, declaring that its 2002 decision was final." Remember, Ethiopia violated the UN federal arrangement resolution 390a/v of 1950 and annexed Eritrea, starting 30 years of Ethio-Eritrean war. Again, Why is Ethiopia allowed to violate an international agreement and international legal decision with impunity?
