The trial of General Abdulsalami in a US court is completely uncalled-for and very wrong and any judgement from the trial should be discountenanced by the Nigerian government. The US court is not an international court and for that matter a Nigerian, and more so, a former Nigeria head of state should not be legally liable to be tried by a US court for his activities in Nigeria. The US tried a similar trial for Mogabi, the President of Zimbabwe and Mogabi discountenanced the judgement and laughed at the US in their intention to try to pinch money from African countries to bolster their economy. The US can petition Nigeria to try President Abdulsalami but juridictionally, US court is not competent to try cary out such a trial. If Nigeria does not protest this illegal action by the US, a precedent has been created and it will recur again and again.
