This Day (Lagos)
18 January 2008
Despite opposition by African governments to United States African Command's (AFRICOM) presence in the continent, the command said yesterday that its "amphibious dock landing ship" was heading to the Gulf of Guinea in an initiative to enhance security in the West African sub-region.

Nonsense!!!
America doesnot need Africa let alone Iraq, you people are too busy killing each other that you cannot see the forest for all the trees. We are trying to help you people break the cycle of poverty, ignorance, and disease that has plagued your so called land of plenty, plenty of misery and despair. As a black American not African American you offend me by your lack of insight on what's happening in the world. We have plenty of oil in Alaska, Texas, the Gulf of Mexico and other areas. America never colonized any country in Africa, nor anywhere else in the world. You and your kind will always be bound in the same cycle until you wake up and start helping yourselves and stop blaming America, the white man for all your problems. History shows that all countries under the U.S. administration or trust has prospered. Germany, Japan, South Korea, the Phillippines from 1902 up to WWII, Greece, Turkey. At least we are trying to help you crawl out of the gutter, I don't see your friends Libya, Sudan, Saudi, North Korea, Red China, Iran or Venezula giving you any life line out of the muck and mire your stuck in. I hope and pray we don't have any bases on Africa, more tax money from my pocket.
BS.
Oh really, if the United States were so much interested in brokering peace in Africa, then she should concentrate her efforts in the war ravaged regions of Sudan, Chad & the Congo. "Well I guess not. There is nothing to gain over there. Little wonder they are so much interested in the oil rich gulf of Guinea. Yeah, the so called "Black Gold".
So "Mr.Black American", what do you even know about Africa? I guess what the American media wants you to believe. "The woretorn villages, malnourished kids, disease, war and everything negative in this world you can think of. You sit there in your adopted country "USA",stripped of your history and culture, having only selected & edited information from the politically controlled media of your "great" country as your only link to the motherland. The saddest thing is that you gullibly think that's what Africa is all about.
Yeah, they say we are corrupt, we have corrupt leaders. But where did the word "corrupt" emanate from. I believe it's an English word. What happened during your election year in 2000. Or how about all the corporate fraud being perpetuated by your mega corporations including the likes of Enron, Worldcom, and most recently your banks and credit organizations whose unfair lending practices may cost most of you particularly "Black American" your homes. Lol!!! So much for your love for America.
Yes, we have our problems just like every other continent in the world, but the United states is not interested in solving our problems either. They are interested in what they can gain. The spoils & loot from Africa. Like a Rwandan leader once said " We have no oil, nothing you want" Where was "Africom" then? Where was the rest of the world as they allowed thousands of innocent African men women and children to die during the genocide years. So much for helping the continent. Is that the security Africom is looking to provide for the continent or is it security for the black gold in the Gulf of Guinea?
Gishola, Where is the source of your knowledge? Why are you such an alarmist? The way the African leaders, for example, Nigerian leaders have pillaged our country is a call for any interruption from any government with the where-withal.Dont you think that the coming of a foreighn power to straighten our "REARS UP" is like the "Second coming of Jesus Christ" which the xtian world has been waiting for?
It is just sufficient for people to follow the very recent history of Africa, not only Nigeria, to see the correct picture. Read about US involvement in Congo, Angola, Mozambique, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ethiopia,Uganda, Somalia, Ghana and Nigeria. In the congo, as a result of US forced control of the country for about four decades followed by US organized invasion by Uganda and Rwanda, an estimated total of about 10 millions civilians were killed. In Angola, as a result of US planned and backed civil war that lasted 27 years, 2 million civilians were killed, 100,000 civilians, mostly school children, were amputated and about 20 million land mines were planted in the country. In Mozambique, as a result of US planned and backed civil war that lasted 16 years, over 660,000 civilians were killed and over 50% of the country was covered with land mines. This is just a jist or the the tip of the iceberg. If you want to know more, check the library to read about the other black African countries' travail in the hand of the US. A book titled "CALL A SPADE A SPADE, US, CIA AND AFRICA" published by West African Book Publishers, Ilupeju, Lagos State gives a lot of information. With the little that has been exposed, will you be so gullible to be tricked into accepting protection by the US?
There you go blame America and the CIA for all your troubles, you people have been killing each other for a millineum now, sold us blacks in North and South America to the British, French, Spainiards, Portuguese and Arabs for trinkets, i.e. mirrors, blankets, and other worthless objects you thought the world of due to your ignorance. 500 years later you still are killing each other like wild beast. The propaganda your reading is a lie from the pit of hell. Your dreaming if you think the U.S. want to take control Africa, we are not French, Russian, or Chinese. We have excellent minds who are creative, resourseful, and resounding. We take what we have and are able to create more out of it. You have oil,(the majority goes to Red China and France) diamonds (Brussels), gold (South Africa), and other minerals bauxite, tin, rubber, all going to Russia and Ukraine for weapons so you can kill each other, lets face it Africa is cursed by whatever god or being you believe in for being evil towards your fellow man. God Bless America!!!
Yes, we think that the Americans coming to occupy the gulf of guinea is solely based on the need for protecting their source of energy, contrary to what someone else comment on this topic is trying to make us believe. They,ve not tried to save us in the past, why should I believe that they,ll save us now?The coming of the chinese and the indians, who to me are coming to join the party late is what,s neccesitating the American rush to cover lost grounds,if there,s so much oil in texas, alaska and the gulf of mexico why spend so much trying to keep source of supply safe (wars, occupations)in iraq, saudi arabia, persian gulf. The truth of the matter is that America goal in the gulf of guinea is as they,ve already stated themselves purely based on protecting there own interest and what will keep the oil coming since it,s getting more difficult in the middle east. As for the contributor who thinks he,s more american than African and still angry with what some of our dubious ancestors did in the past(complicity to slave trade) please we in this generation are still crying over what happened then and are ever ready to make amends i.e reaching out to the diasporan African with love and kindness,it,s had to explain but we too feel the deep impact of what transpired then and are willing to forge a new and lasting bond with all those diasporan brothers and sisters who still feel the bond with AFRICA. We are also aware of the fact that there are those diasporan brothers and sisters who,ve been so brainwashed that they,re those who help the American machine achieve their dubious aims in Africa,i.e, toppling of Nkrumah, lumumba etc, we advice you of this sort to desist from your ways b,cos when the going gets tough it,s Africa that you,ll have as a source, why burn your bridges when you,ll need them some other time?Long live Africa.
Once beaten twice shy goes the saying, the problem here is that we,ve been beaten more than twice, why not be an alarmist if that,s what it takes. We,ve been robbed over and over again by these same country now purpoting to come to iur rescue,I personally don,t think they care that much about the welfare of African, history is my guide. How can they(Americans) now be our saviour and from whom, alqaida, chinese, indians?, when they have in the past been our biggest drawbacks, they took out all our progressive minded leaders in the past, who,s going to convince me to trust them now? African, wake up,don,t give up your natural and god given part of the world to aliens and invaders packaged as saviours,we will not trst them now given what we,ve seen happen in the past.
As pointed out by the article, the US is forcing its military represented by the occupying force, AFRICOM on the black continent of Africa despite opposition by African governments. Occupation of Iraq is not proving to yield sufficient dollar payback for the US to the extent that the economy is on a downward trend and to quickly correct this the US has taken the bold step to spread the looting of natural resources to not just the Congo but several African countries at a go. The prtext by US in imposing AFRICOM on Africans is to protect black African countries from a virtual or fictitious Alqaida for a start. This pretext will later be changed by another administration into protecting black African countries from Chineese influence and, before the complete destruction of the continent, the world will be told that American demoCRACY is being established in black African countries. It is feared that the black Africans are likely to be reduced to the situation of American Indians and this may be followed by total extermination. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE ULTIMATE AIM OF SIGHTING AFRICOM IN AFRICA IS TO EXTERMINATE THE BLACK RACE! AFRICAN GOVERNMENTS SHOULD RAISE THIS US PREDATORY OCCUPATION AT THE UN AND ASK FOR IMMEDIATE US WITHDRAWAL.
