hi. it is very easy to make comment from kampala and ask where is middle class of kenyans. now from the origin of world any opposition party used poor people to press the goverment -legal or not. making example of pakistan is wrong because is particulare case having touche chief justice of the country and lawers have a very special connection in this country . do not forget that somebody coming from class of lawer can be elected at almost end of career chief justice. now in kenya situation is totally different . using poor people to press the President. meantime ordinary kenyan face great difficulty can i know which difficult all polital party are facing? there is only 1 thing clear . they are all greedy and angry for power and thery dont fucking care the life of kenyans or if kenya will loose everything leaving the country in total mess. stop non sense and look the reality. the future is black and young generation will grow not as KENYAN but as tribe

This is an important question to ask, but you are assuming that there are middle-class folks in Kenya who will benefit from a Raila Odinga presidency. I think most of them realize that there is not that much difference in the probable policies of the two men. If you are just preaching to the ODM leadership who call for protests but don't venture outside their comfortable homes themselves, then I think your article has merit. If you are referring to other middle-class Kenyans, I think the situation is probably more complicated than you implied. Odinga is nothing like Victor Havel or any of the other great leaders you mentioned and I suspect even many of those who supported him in the election are having second thoughts as they watch him justify the violence - even the brutal burning of women and children in the church in Eldoret. Kibaki is behaving badly as well and Kenyan's were indeed robbed of a proper election process. So, it would be great for people to rally for electoral justice, but I think before the average Kenyan had a chance to think about a reasonable approach to peacefully contesting the elections, the poor Luos and Kalenjins that had been incited by ODM politicians had already started their rampage of violence. Suddenly there was more basic justice to think about than just electoral justice. What exactly do you want middle-class Kenyans to do when they take to the streets? Cheer Odinga, a leader who will not make a clear statement against the violence committed by his supporters? You may be right that most of the middle class want to just hide in comfort, but maybe some of them are just hoping like me for something more from their leadership before championing them.

Very well said - Yes!! Where are Kibaki and Raila? Sitting in comfort watching it all on TV - eating and living in the lap of luxury no doubt!! Shame on them both. Has Raila or Kibaki EVER been seen in either Kibera or Mathari? I presume that they do know where these places are situated and how the inhabitants try to exist there?

I think the writer is biased and does not seem to understand the current situation in Kenya. ODM believes they won and so does PNU that does not give ODM the right to ignite chaos the law coursts are there. You talk of bullets felling Kenyans but you make no clear mention that it is the presidents tribemen who are being killed in the rift valley and western Kenya in a well ochestrated ethnic cleansing by ODM supporters guided by their leaders. Kibaki never stole the elections look at the polls by steadman which had predicted a very tight race, how comes in Railas strongholds the turnout was over 90% and yet its only one constituency in kibakis stronghold that turnout was 90%. The fact that ODM is screaming the loudest does not mean they are right. Kibaki won fair and square,I talk on behalf of the 4.5million plus voters that voted for kibaki. Results were verified on the night of 29th by representatives of all major political parties ,ODM on realising they were losing started crying foul infact they had made many claims of rigging before the elctions but could adduce no evidence when asked to do so. Lets be objective and not jump onto any train that comes along without knowing where it is headed

My friend ODM won and that was clear. all the agents at the respective polling stations had results. the press had results, the observers had results. it's an insult to Kenyans that Kibaki won and all this people have it in black and white.

For the last 40years we.ve enjoyed peace that was faught by our grandies. they died for us and that is why the Kenyan youth will die for your son to standup in future and say he is a proud Kenyan. i personally will go and claim our victory (and not Raila's victory) on the streets.
