Financial support has been requested from the European Union for a controversial energy project in Ethiopia that could drive thousands of farmers from their land.
It is clear Europeans don't fund for real developments, but for their political and economic benefits only. If they raisd fund for real social developments, they would have realized the pastorials who would be moved from thier native land's benefits is much much less than that of economical benefits earned from the power dam. The dam's benefits is not only for the pastorials but olso for the Entire East Africa regions.
Ya, of course it is your right to support or not, but the dam is never been controvertial for the natives, ethiopians and the entire east african people. And the total electric network coverage is not 6 %, it is around 22 % as of 2007. Please pleas please don't speak irritating, disclosed and understimation news. We know for ourself than you think for us. just shur up!!!
Ethiopia spends billions of dollars a month, purchasing military hardware to wage wars inside Ethiopia against it's own people or waging endless wars against Eritrea and Somalia. Knowing the above statement to be true, why's the EURO, the World Bank or the USA financing Ethiopia's reversed and misplaced priorities, when Ethiopia should be told in uncompromising terms that Ethiopia needs to stop waging wars to save it's own starving people. How much more of "Famine Aid" is needed to rescue Ethiopians from their own self-inflicted Armageddon. This ONLY exposes the true colors of the US, EU and World bank and proves that the EU, World Bank and the US consider Ethiopians to be expendable to their self-serving sinister political agendas.

Dear Campainers,
It is so strange that your interests go contra reality and contra long term interests of the Ethiopian people. 1) How can you expand the electricity grid to millions of people and run it if you don't have the power itself first and the financial capacity to expand and run the grid. 2) How can providing "cooking fuel" for immedaite use for rural households be more useful and sustainable (also environmentally) than developing one's potential environemntal friendly hydropower, which benefit the poor people in the long term to come. 3) How is it not visible to you that the benefits from power export to Kenya or neighbouring countries is going to benefit the people of Ethiopia but providing the money in terms of short term utitlities such as cooking fuel is? Or alternatively, why would you beleive that such projects that connect the economies of the countries in the region are not beneficial to the people in the region?
As a citizen of the country, I cannot comprehend your views and the genesis of such campians, and the interests behind every thing. But one thing is clear, your money is your money. You can campaign to stop the lending for what ever reasons you may have. But you cannot stop Ethiopia from taking it's own decisions from now on! No such external obstacle-games are to hinder Ethiopia from taking its choices such as undertakingin suhc long term mega projects whatsoever..any more! The bygones are bygones!
God bless Ethiopia
