DESPERATE people living with the HIV/Aids virus in Yumbe district, northwestern Uganda, have resorted to an ominous therapy - that of injecting themselves with blood drawn from an uncommon type of lizard.

Really? Seriously? Does allAfrica.com even employ journalists? How could anyone with even a modicum of journalistic training write an article that cites "on-line scientific journals" that proclaim to "show that dried gall bladders of monitor lizards also cure heart problems; impotency and liver failure". What on-line journals are these? My online searches have failed to turn up anything even remotely like this.
Africa needs to come into the 21st century and stop believing in superstitious nonsense - and the media should be leading the way by providing an informed counterpoint that helps debunk such idiocy.
