This cannot be overstated. This is purely political.PNU wants the numbers! We shall not be suprised if another one is hit by a matatu, another one dies of avian flu e.t.c
Honourable Mugabe Were"s killing is a polical murderwhich the gorvernment, through the police must thoroughly investigate and non partisanly deal with failure that will lead to similar killings by those who did it even on key members like Reila Odinga and even Mwai Kibaki himself which will possibly lead to worsening the political situation emanating from from the widely disputed elections. We want PEACE in Kenya like any ather country.

After Hon Were's death another ODM MP is down.Hon TOO an MP for Ainamoi in Rift Valley was shot dead today 31st january barely two days after the daeth of his colleague the Late Hon Were.I can conclude that Kibaki adminstration is reducing the number of opposition MPS forgeting that the final judge is God.He will pay for this if not on this world it will be supreme court of our Almighty God.God bless and protect ODM and its members.
Due to Hon.Were's death Annan should postpone all his mediation process as chaos has erupted freshly again in Kenya and more deaths are reported. Kibaki and his cronies has led to loss of lives just of hyena kind of selfish interests. At one time all this leaders will account for this.I remember Dr.Mbai a former ODM associate murdered in 2005 at the same Woodley Estate where Hon.Were was murdered.(Obande)
Contrary to what you have asserted in resignation, it is imeperative that voices of reason must prevail and mediation continue. Although I would say that Mr Annan should call all for reconciliation and peace. He must also urge both sides to call for peace and stop and demonstrations and recriminations. Let there be peace for the greater good of Kenya and its people.
It is very sad indeed to see political assasination startinng at this stage when the country is still polarised and people are still searching for the truth. The perpetrators of this hineous act are the people who still want to see Kenya lagging in this stalemate. It is surely a matter of the goverment killing for numbers in parliament. DAN SULE IN NAMIBIA
We should not point fingers at Kibaki government alone since honorable Were also had competitors in the ODM during the last general election. With ODM having majority support in the Embakasi, you can’t really tell who did it.
I remember seeing honorable were quarreling with his ODM competitor on a platform during campaign period. I am not pointing finger at anyone but you can’t really tell who did it.
You look purely like Mungiki. You look so evil. After Hon Were's death another opposition mp is dead.Hon Too is murdered in cold blood and you say they are ODM competitors. We clearly know that Kibaki wanted numbers in parliament and therefore a Mungiki machinery has been put in place to reduce this number. Please please please lets save our country.OBANDE Kenyan in KAMPALA UGANDA.
I think there is more to the killing of Hon.Mugabe Were than just a political murder. The police should swiftly investigate those who were linked to the killing of Dr.Mbai who was an ODM associate in 2005,moreso at the same estate! Kibaki should be accoutable in international law if he fails to protect the liberty, peace and freedom of opposition members in Kenya or he MUST RESIGN IMMIDIATELY to stop chaos in the East African State.

Hi it has been sad to read from kenya on the happenings there because of selfishness and a president who stole votes to force himself with team in the state house without caring of the power givers meaning the votes he has managed to finally divide kenyans and unto this there is no way one tribe would have made win against all other kenyan tribes and if so called kibaki had won the election why is he afraid of the peacefull re-run of the presidential election . that tells us somthing and provides the agument even if kibaki forces himself to in the state house and the end of the day the law should take its cause like Saddam and Tailor , he desrves to be hanged i am not jurging him but he should not use the military and the police to kill the innocent wananchi. in addition that oldman is very very weak can not talk properly and he has let us down. personally i am a kikuyu but not impressed with his selfishness he lost the election he should be a man enough to step down coz if all goes bad it will only him who will be required to answer in person. Mr. Kibaki being a fellow kikuyu please give up and stop listenning to selfish people around you because what you are doing is evil and has divided kenya in the glibal eye there no way you will be left unattended regardless of your age. we kenyans are peace loving people and what you have put kenya into is very bad and never will kikuyus be loved and beat and kill all other tribes in kenya or else kikuyus are doom after your retire. i would therefore appeal to you and your misleading Mps to give up and true kenyans and let a government of the people for the people be form to rule kenya like the same people gave you time to rule or else we want our dead families back or one day we will make sure that you pay painfully like our members of family have been butched by your police and military.
hi that e-mail was writen when crying so all the mistakes and language spellings please accept
This is really sad news indeed. When things happen like this my question How are we Africans going to unite and be developed? Those who are taking innocent blood they should know that there is nothing hidden under the sun, God knows and one day things will come to pass. Kenya has been a model for peace, economical growth as well as tourism. Please we should stop this nocense this will take us no where. Eve if we kill each other what benefit are we going to get, why not leave all in the hands of God top take care of this issue than taking justice into our hands. Please please please fellow friends in this region lets stop this. I appeal to the two presidents find a common ground before things gets worse. Kenyas, we are praying for you your problems are our problems too.WE CONTINUE PRAYING FOR YOU
I saw it coming, and this is not the last; many others are to follow and they will be similarly called by the polic as 'murder'. But these murders are politica assassination as part of a well-planned strategy designed to realise the long-term goals of the Kibaki government.
For weeks before the voting polls consistently put Raila Odinga and the ODM ahead of the incumbent Kibaki and his contraption of PANU, and and even the 'mysterious exit polls' taken just after the voting gave a comfortable lead to Raila Odinga in the presidential vote. But kibaki adamantly and defiantly told the press in his campagn that he will defy the odds. How? simple and it works in Africa.
(1)Take the 'high ground' by first usurping state power of government irespective of what the numbers say. Tese can be doctored. After a swift swearing-in-ceremony, the legal basis of the govenment is assured. (2)With the legal loose ends tied, state resources including instruments of coersion will be brought to bear on any protests from within while any external protests will simply be ignored and allowed to feasle out with time. (3)Systematically wittle out the opposition majority in parliament through all means posible to enable the government minority government to become functional. This can take any form: - buy out shaky opposition members, - destabilise them through court petitions, assassinate them to precipitate by-elections to avail second chance to defeated pro-government candidates, - destabilise the electoral base of the opposition strongholds such as is already happening in the Western, Nyanza and the Rift Valley regions.
Two kenyan experts, one former western ambassador to Kenya, and the other a frilance journalist and expert on Kenyan affairs when asked in a TV interview on Jan 2nd 2008 how things will develop in Kenya in the near and medium term, had this to say: The post election violence will escallate into a fully fledged civil war, and either of the leading protagonists can be assassinated.
I afraid their predictions are not far from being a dreadfull reality. The positiv forces must intervene.
The killings of the Late Hon. is political. The police should stop prentending the don't know the route course of the killings. ODM should continue fighting for justice in the presidential results. They should not lose hope and instead let them field someone powerful who will trounce the other parties with a landslide victory. Embakasi is still an ODM seat nomatter what.
To Kenyans,
It is sad that you are destroying your country which is attracting international attention. But you have taken the wrong direction. You could have learned from the destructive move of your nieghbour Ethiopia.Africa should unite irrespective of cultural, religious, and ethnic differences.
It is unfortunate that your leader has taken the wrong lesson of his friend Melese Zenawi and his stooges that rigged the election and started and continuing ethnic division. The violence has taken another step and is cutting the life of the elected MP.All these has been done in Ethiopia and your Kibaki is copying this lesson.
Please for heaven sake President Kibaki take the advice of your people and taking the example of Moi come down and let the people live peacefully. It is true your friends from Ethiopia and Uganda have taken the power through rigging the election. The culture of shuffling leadership in Kenya is not through cheating and division of the peaceful people.Do not learn what the evil leaders in your area are doing. The warmongers of Melese regime may promise you help but that doesn't help you and your people.Instead be humble and give another chance for re-election or power sharing or steping down and give the people to decide.Every day you are giving the devil destroy you and your nation. What your friend in Addis Ababa is not helping you and he is not helping himself either.Be courageous Mr Kibaki and align yourself with the people of Kenya.
In response to all this violence in Kenya, I have written an open letter to the Kenyan people, and posted it on my blog: http://PeacePundit.com
It calls for every Kenyan to work to stop the violence before Kenya turns into another Rwanda.

Shame on you Mr. Kibaki and Mr. Odinga. Shame on those of you Kenyans who are slaughtering your countrymen and countrywomen. Because of you a relatively stable and peaceful country became since last month another land of African stupidity. Because of you, like it is happening in Sudan, Somalia, DR Congo, and elsewhere in the continent, now and in the past, non-Africans would have motives to call Africa the land of stupidity. Aren´t we Africans civilized enough to solve our political differences by the rule of law or by dialoque? Why you African politicians insist in calling your tribal, ethnic and/or religious backgrounds when you are in trouble?
THIS IS 100% POLITICAL. IT IS VERY CLEAR. I BLAME KIBAKI AND HIS GOVERNMENT.KIBAKI SHOULD BE KILLED
you seem to look only on one side of the coin. yes he is to blame he has stolen votes its true i dont deny that fact too but lets look at the consequences of his death. if he was to die today there will be more political un arrest. let me take the bull by the horns. do you recall the late father Kaisas words. he there are camps in kenya training various communities. if kibaki or Raila would have won the kikuyus were already told in eldoret that they had to leave n vacate from eldoret.the reality comes in when the pokots support the marakwet and kalenjins by using amnuitions.you have heard abt the latest naivasha/nakuru cases. kibaki winnings gave the people an advantage to vacate the kikuyus in the process some were killed in the church at eldoret the police dont know the cause but what the reality is that a grenade was used.in nakuru/naivasha. as the kalenjins were trying to progress n take over nakuru town mungiki sect boarded vehicles to fight for there feellow kikuyus this was as a result of payback in that though there are all communities in the camp but the majiority are kikuyus this sparked attention to the mungiki men they realized some of the kikuyus dont know how to speak kikuyu thats why they ask for identity cards.however this has not settled issues but due to the police failure to counter attack since they are also divided this led to deployment of the army who used excessive force to calm the situation. a curfew was pursed do to peoples ignorance the army used live bullets which decended from what seemed to be airplane this made the town to be clear.there was high insecurity in nakuru due to members of mungiki sect were at packing stations they butchered a kalenjin in town this sparked the uproar in nakuru town.moreover in places such as kitale nairobi except kibera it is peaceful in central there is no much of war as experienced in rift valley. the us team says if the process is slow they settle matters but the case is that they will worsen the process in that communities in kenya will view it as colonialism. Each community has its own force ready to fight back when provoked.its time they let kenyans settle disputes alone. hunger will strike and each community will realise the importance of each other for the kalenjins need kikuyus to buy there products and the kikuyus need the kalenjins for there business to flourish the luos need kikuyus to buy maize from kitale n sell to luos the kikuyus need luhyas in order to buy farm products n produce and sell to coast and other provinces in terms of education universities need all lecturers regardless of there tribes since they have specialised in those fields its high time that all communities stop seeing each other as superior to the other and realize they all need it each other to reach a common goal.
Thanks Sam, you really think like a more focussed Kenyan.Lets unite countrymen and preach peace(Obande-KenduBay-Kenya)
Hon. Were's killings is purely political ASSASINATION.Having won in Embakasi costituency and competitors taking a petition against in court clearly shows that he was really being trailed. Therefore all his competitors must tell Kenyans what they know about this cold blood murder. What iam seeing in Kenya right now i dont believe peace will be sustained unless a presidential re run takes place, failure to this more violence and distruction of property is expected .
