A research paper on abortion has called for the liberalisation of abortion laws in Malawi, which deny elective abortions and the prioritisation of emergency healthcare for post-abortion complications.

Please. That is an exaggeration. It is only the political and extreme religous right in the US that is against abortion and they always have been. The only reason why some are not performing them anymore is because they themselves are religious and are choosing not to. The majority of Americans are still in support of abortion and there has not been any moral or social upheaval due to abortion. Studies have shown that there would be more social problems without abortion because an unwanted pregnancy does not necessarily lead to the best parenting or raising of the child. Women should have the choice if they want to be a mother. Cultures around the world have been practicing abortion in one form or another for centuries.
Please consider America's experience with abortion on demand before rushing to this solution. The moral toll in the US has been horrific, and the condemnation from society has been growing, to the point that abortion providers have been closing shop and abortions are difficult to procure. Many of us wish that we had listened to the advice of our elders a half-century ago and had not entered into this destructive path...
