This is propaganda carried too, too far counting on the gullibility of Africans. Undisputable records abound to show that the US planned, backed and organized the civil wars in the DRC (Congo) that culminated in the assasination of Lumumba in 1961 and the assasination of Lauren Cabilla in 2001 and has caused the death of an estimated 11 million Congolese civilians and with the fingers of the US ever present in the DRC, the civil war still continues and it is recorded recently that this is taking the lives of Congolese civilians at the rate of 4500 every month. Records also show that the US planned, backed and directed the civil war in Angola that lasted 27 years resulting in the death of over 2 million Angolan civilians and over 100,000 civilians, mostly school children, were amputated and over 20 million land mines laid all over the country. The civil war in Mozambique which lasted 16 years is on record as being planned, backed and directed by the US and over 600,000 civilians died as a result. Other catastrophic civil wars in which the US has been deeply implicated include that of Ethiopia, North-South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Rwanda. Recent events in Somalia show the part being played by the US that bombed Mogadishu less than a year ago killing an estimated 58 civilians with impunity because US was looking for Al Qaeda. It is a well-known fact that the US is backing and arming the Darfur militants against the Sudan government because the US wants to force the Sudan government to give up its rule in Southern Sudan so that it can be free for US to colonize. It is also feared that the fingers of the US are all over the Niger Delta unrest in Nigeria because of the US interest in the oil deposit in the area. The attempt of the US to force an occupying military force, AFRICOM on the Gulf of Guinea and eventually spread it over black Africa is one of the projects very dear to President Bush to eventually completely subjugate black Africa. WHAT AN IRONY FOR US TO TALK OF COMMITMENT TO PROGRESS AND DEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA!

gishola, This thing about the US planning, backing and organizing the Congo civil war is a fact I had never come across before. Could you please give me some references so I can do a bit of reading on it?

On the situation with Liberia, I have also heard of US involvment, but somehow that information too is hard to come by. I'll appreciate it if you can give me some sources also.

I"m eager to see if there will be anything tangible on the aspect of Africa"s poor economies particularly Tanzania"s situation.
