The risk of rape and sexual abuse remains high for thousands of young girls and women displaced by Kenya's post-election crisis in January and February, an assessment by three agencies has found.

The Kenya Government has a demanding obligation to protect the IDPs. The Kenya Government understands the location of all the IDPs camps. All it is required to do is, to deploy men and women police officers at evey camp. Policewomen should handle the security affairs of the internally displaced women, girls and small children while the policemen should handle the affairs of men in the IDP camps. The law on protection of Kenyans and their property should also apply to all the IDPs. The Kenya Government should accept a failure if anyone in the IDP camp has been brutalised or raped.
