Does everybody think there is enough food in the world for a growing population, grow fuel in the place of food ? That just does not sound right does it ? Use existing sure, what happens when its finished ?
One of the "orphan crops" that Mr. Corea mentioned is so common in Africa that it is a major source of trouble. There is enough Typha growing around you all to feed you. You must be a little careful with it, as it likes to absorb pollutants, but what isn't fit for human consumption can usually be made into fuel in several ways. Harvesting it would clear your rivers, channels and reservoirs reducing both flooding and drought. It would also remove a favorite breeding ground for malaria bearing mosquitoes. Look this up on the web: search for ["cattail recipes"], ["cattail flour"], [cumbungi], [cattail ethanol], [Typha AnyCountrynameinAfrica]. Awareness is the key. The resource, labor and market are already there. It is time to eat this nuisance.
