The Kofi Annan brokered deal signed in February 2008 in Kenya brought President Kibaki and his political opponent Raila Odinga together in what seemed like an inevitable conclusion in a country reeling from an electoral stalemate that saw over 1,500 Kenyans dead and hundreds of thousands displaced.
