Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today pledged the continued assistance of the United Nations to Liberia, which he said has made great strides in recovering from a brutal decade-long civil war, but still faces daunting challenges in areas such as security, rule of law and development, as he wrapped up a visit to the West African nation.

Ban Ki-Moon in Liberia: Speaking to reporters later in the day, he said that "the recent worldwide protests over soaring global food prices have demonstrated the need for Liberia to meet the MDGs [Millennium Development Goals] in order to be safe from the weaknesses of globalization while taking advantage from its myriad opportunities for growth and prosperity."
The weaknesses of globalization show we are going the wrong way. The goal of life is not employment; the goal of life is retirement in a garden paradise that we can make here and now. By planting trees, bushes and vines with food instead of just pretty vegetation and selecting pets that give milk and eggs, we can establish true freedom and prosperity and not be endangered by pollution of air, land, water, and food, global warming, energy crisis, food crisis, war, poverty, immigration, and inequality. Other social problems are also solved.
In Leviticus 26 in Torah which Muhammad and Jesus confirmed, God promises "rain in due season" to the obedient. It serves as a witness for nations not following what is clearly written. Many conflicts arise following religious leaders instead of the word of God He sent down.
The solution is available; woe to us if we do not embrace it. Marie Devine Kansas City, MO 64128-1527 USA
