About 400 people seeking refuge from alleged state-sponsored violence at the opposition party offices of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) in the capital, Harare, have been arrested by riot police, according to an IRIN correspondent.

Mugabe is NO longer in charge.But the army chiefs who fear for their lives and their corruptly earned wealth.
Mugabe is the GLUE of the corrupt party called ZANU.His departure will mean the party will split into at least 3 factions.
So those who benefit from Mugabe's presence would rather have him RULE till he dies.

Yes its true but I really think that Zanu has ceased to be a functional political party its not the movement that it was in the 1980's lost its identity, lost its ideals as well as its relavance to the current generation. It's just a tool for Mugabe to control the country. If we ever going to avoid another version of a ZANU-Mugabe regime situation again, Zimbabwe must have at least an effective second or third major party in the country. This might be jumping the gun discussing this now but there needs to be a balance to whatever party comes next. Whoever is sitting down on the lower levels of Zanu must really think about the future now. life does not always go your way but you must accommodate changes and move on. The country is suffering because they cant concede that they are no longer the popular ones. When people believe in something they find all sorts of reasons to reinforce their false beliefs the only way they provide self justification for their unpopularity is that the MDC are puppets of the west and they are defending against the return of colonialism they may really believe these Mugabe lies. Its quite far fetched because Zimbabwe is not in the same position it was 200 years ago none of its people will allow an invasion, the truth is staring them in the face but they refuse to see it. They simply lost the good life is over.(for them that is)
It is very unpleasant to see someone refering to himself as leader treating his own people in such a manner. The most gegret is the arm of government that should safeguard the country after one generation to the nest are inolved in rape, killing and stealing from their own people. Let them know that Mugabe ime came and it is time for his time to go. The fact is whether they want or not, he time has come to pass and i is now time for him to cope with the trauma. It is a well know fact in Africa that people wh have no means of improving themselves, but living and cruarly working as death channel for aleader like Mugabe will now have to turn their war mechanisms into prouctive tools.
The call for MDC's supporters to remain calm is welcome. I urge them to remain so and see Mugabe and his killers and shameful electroral teams tempering with eveything they think a the shameful,net of thmselves. Theresult has since been known. It is just a shame that as engulf them behaving the way they are doing.
The announce recouting is the worst we have ever seen in elections history. Why recout when the result hat is officially known has not been made public?

ZANU-PF must concede defeat. They have lost and even though the Presidential results have not been release they have lost the majority and must concede defeat now. If AU & SADC cant force Mugabe to step down then at least force Zanu to concede defeat. Zanu must recognise MDC as the winner! ZANU are committing political suicide by continued to support a dying regime, One thing about the upcoming generation of Zanu-pf officials must remember is that whatever happens they still have to contest an elections in 5 years time and it will be in a vastly disadvantageous position than now. The longer they continue to support this clown Mugabe the more it will damage their image and support over the next 5 years. The only way out for Zanu-pf to survive as a party is to renounce Mugabe and get in bed with the MDC that is the most logical thing to do. An MDC government is going to inherit a disastrous situation and if Zanu can play it smart then they may claw back the lost support just in time for the next election. If MDC enjoys the current amount of support who is going to fund an opposition Zanu-pf . Zanu must start thinking of their own future. The time of Mugabe and his regime are over 28 years is enough Zanu should have already replaced Mugabe with some one else but they failed. Mugabe is not the future.
