Africa: Snapshot - China's Verbal Acrobatics On Sports And Politics

Never before has there been such a heated and widespread controversy surrounding a sporting event as has been the case with the upcoming Beijing Olympics, which has been dogged by disruptions of the itinerary of the Olympic Torch and strident calls by human rights activists worldwide for a boycott of the games.

This is enjoyable! All over Chinese media you hear intervews of the so called big-wigs of the IOC seperating politics from sports. Which universities did they attend? When they come for those high profile visits, they should sit with Jacky Chan or the Chinese football coach then!

China is a disgrace to the international community. I mean the country is like Zimbabwe in white garments. Chinese politics is not different from what is practised in Cameroon or Swaziland. There is an attrocious Human Rights Records here and until you get here you would hardly know. This country in the 20th century is still a police state. government is on a virtual collapse. Here, you dont talk of racism...classism would be better! No one seem to know their role; a policy could be passed today in beijing and it gets to Guangzhou only after a decade. So dont give me that crab about politics separated from sports.

The guys have a confusing immigration system that i am surprised it is not yet in the guinness book of jokes! Fill in a form today and hand it in tomorrow and no one understands it simply because a new one showed up overnight. Look man the technology thing is good; yes, but it is only skin deep. technology without social justice is like a woman without a womb! come on free tibet!

Listening to a scholar on the television and reading reports from the western media does not mean that you understand China. China is a big country with more than 5000 years history. you will not understand it unless you go to china and Tibet. from you article, i see nothing that you know china for yourself. How you get so much angy with china and the Beijing Olympic Games???
