Zimbabwe: Country Faces Biggest Threat Since Independence - The Herald

ONCE again, imperialist nations and their allied Press agencies along with other surrogate organisations have set out to destabilise the Government of President Mugabe and the ruling Zanu-PF.

Mugabe must go I did not have time to read your whole story but i can obviously tell you are writing on behalf of the 'current government'We are all aware of the Lancaster house agreement and we know that the British failed to fulfill part of their promises. However the injustices by the British have been overshadowed by Mugabe's blunders.Mugabe took the centre stage for all the wrong reasons. That land reform programme was a move in the right direction but the problem is the way it was executed.I think you will agree with me that it was chaotic and disastrous because it was done out of anger and at the same time a ploy to buy vote by using it as their campaign agenda.A lot of people, black and white, were killed in that exercise with Mugabe's blessings and this attracted a lot of attention from the world community and that was the beginning of the end of Mugabe.Anyone with a different opinion to his was labelled 'enemy' and this basically means the majority of Zimbabweans fell in this category,MDC and Tsvangirai included. If it was done in a fair, orderly and organised manner i think a lot of countries were prepared to help financially. Some Zimbabweans themselves had the capital and capacity to 'farm' but were denied that opportunity. As if the disastrous land grab was not enough Mugabe embarked on another unpopular exercise called 'operation murambatsvina' where he destroyed people's houses,in winter, imagine.Mugabe's motive was to punish the innocent people of Zimbabwe for voting for the opposition in the previous election. That was an issue between Mugabe and his people. There was no Bush, there was no Blair.Right now there is no food in Zimbabwe because of Mugabe's irresponsible policies. This is pure economic mismanagement and it has nothing to do with Bush or Blair or Brown. The resources that are supposed to be channelled to the nation is now accessed only by Mugabe's party,ZANU[PF] and the military[including the police and CIO].The people are suffering beyond description, the people are starving and the people are dying everyday.Mugabe is no longer sensitive to the needs of the people.Instead he always reminds them about the war that ended more than 3 decades ago, invoking sad memories of war.Everyone participated in that war in one way or the other and it is the people of Zimbabwe who voted Mugabe into power.SO THE ISSUE IS NOT ABOUT COLONIALISM.IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BUSH,BLAIR OR BROWN.IT'S ABOUT THE PEOPLE OF ZIMBABWE AND MUGABE.MUGABE WAS CONSTITUTIONALLY REJECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF ZIMBABWE AND HE SHOULD RESPECT THE LAW AND THE PEOPLE.

What has always puzzled me is why Mugabe didn't get those promises in writing?

Why were these promises not in the agreement? How did Mugabe intend to enforce them?
