The Chinese ship carrying weapons for Zimbabwe is anchored off Luanda and shows no sign of returning to China, says the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF).
Get over it! Zimbabwe paid for the weapons last year and it is for the defense of Zimbabwe against foreign intruders. Who gave you the right to tell Zimbabwe what to do! Sure white South Africa has no control of the Unions in Angola and you are basically ineffective there.
Phiri,
Be real; you know what Mugabe is capable of doing to his own people. These arms are not for the hunting of rhinos or elephants, but to hunt the opponents of Mugabe. Don't forget the 20 thousand opponents he butchered in the 80's. Mugabe is afraid of his own shadow. He has so much skeletons under his bed, he's afraid to leave the stage.
The biggest weapons today is freedom and justice. No amount of weapon can save Mugabe. He's done. The man is worse than Ian Smith.
Power to the people !!!!!!!
Angolan Union Workers should follow the step of other African countries in taking a stand against the Bob Mugabe's regime. Most of the continent has experienced the devastation egomaniacs bring to our people. After 28 years, Mugabo has proven the point about his leadership, he nows needs to let go and allow other to redress the situation. I believe he has a last chance to peacefully step down and die in peace. The alternative is to hang on power till death and leave the chaos his friend Mobutu left for the congolese. The choice is clear. Finally, despite all the negative news that come from Africa,we finally have to cheer union workers and all those countries that refused to unload the poisonous weapons:we've had enough with Africans killing their own brothers!
Paid or not everyone knows Mugabe and his regimes capabilty to wreak havoc so when peoplees lives are at stake, you bet it can be stopped from unloading. It is a very sad thing to see the goverment buy weapons but many of it's own people inside the country are going hungry. That alone tells you that Mugabe and his regime could care less about the people of Zimbabwe. They are just trying whatever they can to hold on to power b/c they know once they are out many will be tried for war crimes and imprisoned. So now I pray hat angola tells the Chinese ship to move on b/c it is not welcomed there so maybe they need your help but again oh I am sorry you have only ridiculous words and opinions to offer so you would be of no help!
Take a stand for the people of Zimbabwe instead of Mugabe and his regime.
Phiri, give it up. You're a thoughtless bafoon! I'm sure you're benefiting from the existence of the murderous Mugabe regime. What goes up must come down and your uncle Mugabe is coming down. You can't stop the rain. You can only run away from it.
Peter, it's you that most southern africans call the bad anglo white people, who always think everybody has to follow them. I feel honored to have to disagree with you on just about every issue. Yes, you sound like sour grapes, after your minority Prime Ministaer Ian Smith was booted out by the Zimbabwean majority.
If somebody has money for weapons and did not feed his people, he has no legislation anymore to lead them.
He lose the election, he kill everybody who is against him even if he only demonstrate for food, he has almost destroyed the own production of food, thousends of people leave the country every year. Which argument can be stronger? He has totally forgotten why he got the power from his people.
And in the end do not forget, that the weapons will be confiscated by international justice if they will cross a boarder of a country where human rights have a value.
Phiri give it up. Your support of Mugabe's dirty nasty regime sticks out like a dirty sore thumb. The 'war' against the West that you say Mugabe is defending is all in your imagination. If the West really wanted to take over Zimbabwe, they would have done it a long time ago and not waited until it was a pile of dung.Mugabe would have woken up one day as a has been with very little effort on the part of the West. So don't think everyone is stupid not to see that what Mugabe needs those arms for is to use them against the MDC and anyone else IN Zimbabwe who dares to oppose him.I have never heard that he is waring with any neighbouring country - so why the stock pile - unless he intends invading his neighbours.
Lots of countries have spoken out against the situation in Zimbabwe but narrow minded Phiri can only see any comments made by Britain.
Each of the bullets in that cargo has an MDC supporter's name on it. If the arms are allowed to go through, we will have massacres on a Rwandan or Darfurian scale. No true human being wants to be held accountable for that.
I really don't know why none of the world's navies have taken action. A single torpedo is all it takes.
