The Inspector-General of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Beatrice Muna Sieh has warned community dwellers to put a halt to what they termed as "vigilante, or watch night team" since there is no need for such in the country.
This website is informative and resourceful. Those of us living outside of Liberia rely on this site to be regularly informed of events (good or bad) taking place particularly in Liberia and in other parts of Africa. However, after reading well written news stories in recognized Western news papers and news stories online, one becomes discouraged at the countless errors surfacing in these news stories posted to this site by Newspapers in Liberia. Example is the 6th word in the 3rd line of the 4th paragraph in this story to which i am responding. Instead of reading "of its duties," it was carelessly written as "if its duties." Moreover, some of the news stories are carelessly written with duplications in series of paragraphs of sources quoted. Will the Editor please proof read all posted scripts before publishing them to this site so as to save us some face and offense?

I appreciate this website feeding us in the U.S. with information about our sweet Liberia. This website is very informative, and it is one of the ways i read and learned about what is happening in Liberia and other parts of Africa.
Regarding to the "vigilanete" groups in Liberia, we need to be watchful of what the public is embracing. These groups could somehow give themselves power if the government continues to allow their activities. Since it is still soon, and the country has UN forces plus the national police, it is the bast time to put an end to this new group of security watchdog. Although they are trying to protect themselves and loveones from those disgruntle criminals who are calling themselves armed robber, they also need to consider the justic system in the country.
I agreed with the police director who stressed that it is time to put an end to the watch night team. We have a national police and UN police who can do the watchdog work. The war is over and our people need to consider the justic system and depend on the security provided by the government instead of trying to fight criminals with their hands.
