Nigeria: SSS Attempts Barring el-Rufai From Travelling - This Day

There was mild drama at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Intern-ational Airport, Abuja yesterday as attempts by operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to stop the former minister of the territory, Mallam Nasiru el-Rufai, from boarding a London-bound flight failed.

The dramatic scene created by the SSS operative to stop the former minister of FCT from boarding the said flight to UK,was just a demonstration of inefficiency in all aspects of its operational functionality, the confusing state of lacking what to do at a particular time, and decay in the trend of vertical or horisontal chain of issueing or implimenting order is a traditional culture that always lured SSS operations to severe,if not a catastrophic failures. Backed up by any aspect of the law, which the SSS is lackin in 70% of its operations,as the legal basis for SSS is decree 19 of 1986,and instrument 1 of 1999,which the Nigeria judiciary is yet to interprit, not admitting failures emanating from operational incompetence from the top management, the said operative stands a chance for unnecessary bullie when it turned in-house. I remembered how a suspect accussed of spying against Nigeria was arrested by SSS in Sokoto in 2001,but due to the said decayed operational process, the suspect escaped from the SSS custody, the junior officers were inhumanly, and mercilessly made to pay the price, while leadership of the SSS premeditatedly failed to accept responsibility.Unfortunately, the said suspect was later arrested by the police in Katsina state only to realise that the person who has been disguising like a woman in women clothes is indeed a man not a woman,a common criminal,a Nigerian who only struggles through deceptive crafts to survive, which SSS failed to establish, despite more than a week confinement of the suspect in SSS custody in Sokoto. Knowing quite well that Malam Nasiru El-rufa'i is a no nonsence individual, the SSS must be very timely from withdrawing its kangaroo threat of a toothless dog action, knowing the said ex-minister could mess up Mr. Gazama and his boys in the court of law.
