The former Belgian Ambassador to Rwanda, Johann Swinnen, concluded his testimony at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) by wondering if the events which preceded the 1994 genocide had "something to do with a trap".
I am a foreign national from a neighboring country who has worked and lived in Rwanda since 2003. When you hear the testimonies of survivors, you wonder at the inhuman and brutal manner is which babies, children, women and men were butchered
It surpasses all understanding that a sane, educated person like the Belgian envoy can even attempt to find justification for these acts
Whatever events preceeded the genocide, as human beings we have capacity to discern between evil and good - at the very least those you wish to exonorate should have remained passive ....
Let them be tried and punished if found guilty
