Kenya: Give Lang'ata Some Spruce Up for Missing the Lakeside Feast - The Nation

I DON'T KNOW WHEN THIS "homecoming" business entered Kenya political culture. I don't recall seeing much of such events before 2003. Anyway, it has now become de rigueur for a politician, on winning a Parliamentary seat or securing a Cabinet position or other high office, to ride back "home" in triumph.

This is the most sober comment from a die-hard supporter of Raila. "Even though he missed..”I am not your admirer because of hitting at Kibaki, too hard to provoke the ire of the first lady. The PM has to change his stance of Majimbo. You witnessed the violence in Rift. He got votes there and many other parts of Kenya out of Central and Rift Valley because of evoking anti-kikuyu feelings. He wanted the locals to believe the government favored Kikuyus. You Mr Gaitho, know that they have prospered even in Central by cheer hard work; some in very small plots. They have taken loans from banks and cooperative societies. Over the last five years, banks have given loans even on the basis of pay slips and no tribe was favored. Raila is now advising his people to take loans from banks; and for that matter, a bank he has talked ill about in the past. Is this an honest leader? He has even talked ill of the Nairobi Stock Exchange. Another lie was that the properties of the Kikuyus out of Central would be transferred to the locals. No one will be a president of Kenya on the basis of lies. We Kenyans of good will have prayed and continue to pray for our country too hard against this and God has heard our prayers because he grants the desires of those that fear him. Psalms 145:18-19. God cares for everyone in Kenya and will not allow anyone to be discriminated against and harassed on the basis of lies or just open jealousy. Raila is a charismatic leader, but to be president of Kenya, he must shed the anti-kikuyu and pro-majimbo stances because these are divisive. Let him campaign on issues to help all Kenyans and do so as honestly as Obama in the US.

This is the most sober comment from a die-hard supporter of Raila. " Even though he missed the prize narrowly after a very suspicious count by the Electoral Commission, the post of Prime Minister in the power-sharing arrangement was just compensation. ..” I am not your admirer because of hitting at Kibaki, too hard, often unnecessarily even to provoke the ire of the first lady. You still write this article with some good amount of disregard for Kibaki and show clearly Raila to be your hero, and I have no quarrel with this. All I am saying is that you have a bone to pick with Kibaki and to me bad press or bad mouthing exposes naivety. Whether one, you and other Raila inclined writers, and they are in the majority, like it or not, at this point in time, Kibaki is the president of Kenya. And Raila is PM, because of the propping of US and other Europeans. That is not my point now. The PM has to change his stance of Majimbo if he wants to appeal to all Kenyans; I mean Kikuyus and other peace loving and unselfish Kenyans. We all know the meaning and understanding of the call for Majimbo. I am surprised at your support of Raila, you being a Kikuyu and knowing Raila’s stance of Majimbo. Either you are too young or you have no sympathy for the Kikuyus out of central. I doubt youth is your problem. I think probably you still follow the so called Celebes, but at your age, judging by the length of your career in the press, celebrity following is misplaced. I have seen some youth dawning towels and moving with basket balls in the streets! You witnessed the violence in Rift Valley. He got votes there and many other parts of Kenya out of Central and Nyanza because of evoking anti-kikuyu feelings. He wanted the locals to believe the government favored Kikuyus. You, Mr Gaitho, know that they have prospered even in Central by cheer hard work; some in very small plots. His campaign thrived on lies.
