IT IS always a dead giveaway that this government has been caught off-guard and has run out of ideas when it resorts to blaming a "third force" for whatever crisis it finds itself in.

This doesn't surprise me at all.Having lived in South Africa as a foreigner,I witnessed how much serious this xenophobic problem was from 1995-1998 in which period I encountered three near-death incidents solely based on my "makwerekwere" status. Though,I was legally in the country, little or nothing stopped our brothers from harrassing me.I decided to leave the country before it was too late. Part of the blame needs to be put at the feet of the government. The Home Affairs system is plagued with incompetent and corrupt officials. Moreover, most of our black South African brothers have been kept ignorant for a long time and it's easy for political officials to find a "third force" to blame when one has no other explanation for problems. When I was growing up,apparently our parents use to pay taxes or contribution toward the fight of apartheid. And now South Africans seem to think that Zim and other africans are the source of their inequalities...it does not make sense at all. South Africans should be educated on the sacrifices other countries made during their liberation period and find other root causes of their misery instead of scapegoating African brothers.Their own concept of "Ubuntu"requires it.
