People who committed crimes in the post-election violence period might have a chance to apply for amnesty if Parliament enacts a proposed Bill.
It would be very difficult to just live with someone you saw killing people and nothing was done by the law to address the situation. What will prevent the aggrieved party to seek revenge? Let the law take its course.
It is unimaginable to think that people who committed such heinous crimes as killing innocents, children as well as adults, looted their properties and destroyed others are released without charge. Those campaigning for this must be looked at with a lot of suspicion. The youths and adults, I don’t want to believe that only young people have been arrested because of those crimes and there must be a lot of adults, must have been acting on behalf of people in power and hence the reason for now calling on their release. The same people have been asking for delay to resettle the displaced persons. Kenyans surely can see what they would get from an ODM government. Looks like evictions in Rift Valley and other places would be government supervised. Imagine people in government are saying that the displaced should not be returned; suppose those saying this have the final word? Kenyans, we must pray hard never to have such unkind, inconsiderate, selfish people in leadership of our great country. God help Kenya.
Something is very wrong somewhere. Either the Government is too weak to contain those killers who have been active for 17 years since 1991, or the old Kenya politicians have always been behind the Killings. How can innocent children and helpless women continue being killed for 17 years without one single arrest of a killer?. Victims who have survived the killings have always said they knew those who killed innocent children and women and evicted them from their homes. The Government knows who the killers are and who their sponsors are. For all those 17 years, only a team of about 3,ooo young boys of the age between 16 and 21 years are used by some corrupt murderous leaders to kill individuals from other communities. The killings should not be blamed to any one community but to the sponsors and the few boys who have always carried out the killings. Most of the sponsors of the killings have always worked hard to go to parliament where they are sure of protection. They are now figyhting for amnesty for all who killed others so that they may as well, not only enjoy the amnesty but also remain unidentified with involvement in the killings. Had the Kenya Government arrested and prosecuted those who killed innocent defenceless women and children in 1991, the continuos killings since then and which exploded after the elections, would not have occured. If the Kenya Government has to stop it has to arrest not only all the young boys who were used in the killings, but also their sponsors who think they are safe as members of the Kenya Parliament. These stupid and senseless killings should be stopped once and for all. Newton K.

I would hastate to give blanket pardon to murderers. That would encourage them to murder again as happened in 1992,1997,2007 because toothless commisions were set up to cover the culprits. It will definitely happen again in 2012. why not? It is all about elections stupid! How sad!
