People vote for you (in free elections, free of fear of retribution) because they support your policies as a government!

Is 355,000% inflation or 80% unemployment a successful policy? It is indeed possible that ZANU-PF/Mugabe may yet steal the run-off election by killing opponents, driving supporters of the MDC off the land (to reduce their ability to vote in their home districts) and blaming the West and the "white man" for the country's troubles; but if the government of ZANU-PF were truly a government "of the people", Zimbabwe would not have money that depreciates faster than they can print it. Zimbabwe would not have to worry about the cost of holding elections because they do not have enough hard currency to support their current account deficit. Zimbabweans would not have to fear where the Army is deployed within their own boundries or where youths too young to have fought in the "liberation" have been gathered as "war veterans".

Does any of this sink into the thick skulls of the ZANU-PF apologists?

Your Party/Government has FAILED to bring economic prosperity to the people. The "whites" have not done this...... What happened to the agricultural surplus of Zimbabwe that ZANU-PF/Mugabe inherited from the racist Ian Smith's Rhodesia? What has happened to the educational infrastructure ZANU-PF inherited from the racist Ian Smith's Rhodesia? What has ZANU-PF/Mugabe done to maintain the medical infrastructure they inherited from the racist Ian Smith's Rhodesia?

I'm not going to defend the racist Ian Smith of the system of Apartheid that existed in Rhodesia, but what ZANU-PF/Mugabe has done with what they inherited from the previous regime is deplorable! ZANU-PF/Mugabe have merely taken the place of Ian Smith and his cronies! Pete Townsend of the Who said it best....... "Meet the new Boss..... just the same as the old Boss"

Let's hope the people of Zimbabwe will stand firm in the face of ZANU-PF/Mugabe's efforts to steal the run off and "won't get fooled again!"

Juhlman, it is always so refreshing to read the true facts about Zimbabwe by people such as yourself. I just cannot comprehend how anyone can make excuses for Mugabe. Well lets vote in a failed state because the truth is too hard to see. There is an absoulte failure to understand you cant keep a country running on what hundred thousand percent inflation. but then the people had it too good under racist Smith perhaps they must suffer total collapse of all systems to appreciate what good governments are about even if they are racist. Perhaps when Mugabe has run Zim right into the ground then the population of Zim will understand they had the right to vote the other way in 1980 and many times since. Better still when will one of Mugabes followers take him out? By the way SADC stands for: Southern Africa's Dictator's Continuance so always remember that.
