Kenya has had extremely sad and poor history of commissions. From 1963 when Kenya attained Independence, numerous commissions of inquiries have been formed and neither of them ever solved any problem. Some them were disbanded before they completed investigations. For those commissions of inquiries which completed their investigations, their findings were never released, but were kept secret by the same government which instituted them. Those commissions had very little or no meaning to the Kenya people. Even this one which was set up last week to investigate the violence after elections will be a waste of time and money. The killings were a criminal acts committed by very well known young men who were hired by very well known Kenya politicians. What else does the Kenya Government want investigated? The victims of the attacks know the attackers by names. They saw and pleaded with them to spare them as they killed some of them. How can the Government convince Kenyans and the International community that what happened to the Golden reports and findings, the Anglo Leasing reports and findings, the land grabbing reports and findings and the Ouko repoerts and findinds from the Commissions of Inquiries in 2005, will not happen after the newly formed commission of inquiry completes its investigation and hands its report and findings to the same Governmrnt? Already there are people who have been arrested over the killings. They have not appeared in court. Are they going to be held in jail until the Commission completes its findings? This is a dirty game now being played to the Kenyans and the International community who are friends of Kenya. Newton Kinity.
