Africa: Would President Obama be Good for Africa? (allAfrica.com)

If Barack Obama is elected President of the United States, becoming the world’s most powerful leader, what difference would it make to America’s engagement with Africa? Will the son of a Kenyan do things differently from his predecessors, and will Africa benefit?

There is an issue related to the American subsidy issue and that is the issue of African governments and parastatal organizations paying their farmers a pittance for their produce while selling the same for much more on world markets. In my opinion, if these two issues are linked, it would increase agricultural production in Africa, give African farmers a fair price for their labor, and increase the wealth of African farming families.

I believe the greatest benefit Obama can bring to Africa, if he is elected president, is the shining example he can set for African leaders. Obama will have his hands full at home just cleaning up the mess Bush is going to leave, but he has shown that he is quite capable of tackling difficult issues and doing it in a way that is both transparent and even-handed. The world will make comparisons between Obama and his African counterparts, because that's what people do; So surely those leaders who need a moral example set for them will be deeply affected by how Obama leads his country. I haven't always agreed with Obama's ideas but this is a good enough reason for me to vote for him. I long for Africa to be able to live up to it's extraordinary potential and anything that can be a catalist in the process, I wholeheartedly support.

If obama is elected he needs to consider a seriouse stand paticularly in the region of East Africa, countries such as Somalia, Ethiopia,Eriteria, Sudan and Kenya needs to be addressed in a way which servies the people rights, particularly in the region regarding Ethiopia especial considerations need to be taken, as the Government of Ethiopia is the big problem in regards to the Most populated nation ethiopians and the surrounding Countries, in my beliefe obama have to stand with the majority of ethiopians in order to stabilise that part of the world, i say this with great confidence and knowledge of the region, Ethiopia is responsible for the instability that is taking place in somalia as we speak, also at the same time the govrnment of Eriteria needs to be delt with the same way, as they are both leaders punishing it's people for all the wrong reasons not only that but their existance also distabilised the nigbouring countries.. the Obama adminstration need to put in to place a democratic leadership in those countries and most of the problems we face to day can be ignored!!!
