In response to the Zimbabwean government's June 27 decision to hold a "sham" presidential run-off election and its campaign of violence against political opponents, President Bush says the United States will prepare additional sanctions against President Robert Mugabe's regime and will work for strong U.N. and international action to resolve the country's ongoing crisis.

Smart sanctions work but they have to be implemented properly against Mugabe and his cronies. Because of the support he has received from South Africa's Thabo Mbeki they were violated. Let the sanctions also cover those who support Mugabe, like Mbeki, otherwise it will fail again !
