I pray and hope that the information spreading that our beloved President His Excellency Dr. Levy Patrick Mwanawasa State Council is dead, is force.

We were caught up with fear this morning when the rumour went round this morning desturbing classes as lecturers and students could not concetrate. Some students started weeping and were only stopped when it was asid that ther is no confirmation.

The 13:15 ZNBC Network news was however reassuring and right now all of us hope that let this rumour end up as a bad rumour. Zambia still need President Mwanawasa. Our country could have not being were it si had it no been for radical leadership of Mwanawasa. God bless us.

I just hope the Zambian Government could inform us with total accuracy and dispel these rumours. But as a person who works in the hospital and deals with these issues everyday, i will tell you people over here what i expect to happen. There are three scenarios that i thing will possibly happen.First of all, if he had a stroke and it is conformed it was a stroke not a minor stroke, then it is almost unlikely that he will ever be president again even if he survives. With a stroke, i expect that he will lose function on half side of his body and in some cases lose his mental capacity forever, but if his mind is there he still can be president but it will be very hard for him to run the country because it will be many months of physical therapy, many months to see if his mind will be the same as before and it will take a long time to know for sure the damage done, unless brain scan results are released and i know they will not released.Second scenario, he maybe brain dead, clinically that means he is dead, he is just on life support and it will be upto his wife or relatives to decide to either pull the plug and let him eventually die or decide to keep him there, he can be on life support for even 20 years but never wake up.The final scenario is that he was mis diagnosed with a stroke, maybe he had a brain hemorrage and if he is lucky and it wasnt fatal, he will surive and just be fine but he will need a future with much medication and needs to be monitored alot. Personally, i dont think the outcome is good if he had a stroke, let us prepare for the worst but put him prayer for the best case scenario.

Mwanawasa had a craniotomy [skull was opened] to stop a bleeding vein. This also qualifies as stroke the term used in layman's language to describe paralysis of one side of the body.

Unclefole, I agree with your observation that government leaders accurately tell us what is happening regarding the President. Just insisting that he is alive and stable is not enough in my view; remember how the issue of Yasser Arafat's death was handled? The French initially denied the reports until they realised they could no longer keep it under wraps. But that said, I wish Levy a quick recovery. Man, you still have a lot of work to do. But I also suggest if doctors recommend that you step down, do so in the interest of your health. We can still use your counsel as a former president, you know.

Yestoday was a day to rememeber as nation,we were filled with fear, tramurtised and panic was the moment for the whole day,but thank God goodnews come out and we went back to normal.the whole nation was moved with this sudden and unprepared news, because most Zambians love the President.Knowing that we are a christian nation, most of the people went on there knees praying for a miracle to happen,Praise God the Lord answered our cry,The president is still alive.when i heard that he is still alive,my heart was filled with great joy, tears run down my face and i felt unoverwhelming peace swept my heart.Yes there is GOD in heaven,no matter what people say God has the final say over any humanbeing. It's a lesson to people that back news spreads fast and goodnews will always move very slow.... As the sun rises on the Zambia today,in deed it's a new day over mother Zambia, arise and go forth to destiny, your leader is safe and sound in the hands of the creater, may joy fill your hearts today and celebrate the goodness of the Lord. This is your season of restoration.Have a blessed day mother Zambia.fly on eagles wings today

But the seriuos questions which rock our minds is as to how such an information could have leaked almoost world over. I feel that whoever did leak this false rumour should be brougt to book and apologise to the whole world.

I deeply respect his Excellency Mwanawasa. This situation in Zimbabwe with the chief tug Robert Mugabe caused him so much stress and with his pre-existing medical issues, it just compounded matters to the point of a stroke. This man stood for the people of Zimbabwe; however, Uncle Bob has gone totally mad and defies all common sense and respect for basic human rights. He has blood all over his hands because he is clinging on to power totally disregarding democracy what SDAC and the African continents strives for. Except for his evil twin Bonga who happily endorsed him since they need a dictator on either side of the ocean. This fool has been ruling Gabon for 40 long years and has his country in a desparate situation despite being an oil giant. How much more mismanagement should we tolerate. Then you have Musevini...another tyrant we need to watch. President Mwanawasa fights for democracy and he we should all hold a prayer vigil for God to perform a miracle.

President Mwanawasa has been a couragous leader in SADC and I pray that he gets well. To say President Mugabe gave Mwanawasa so much stress, is to give Mugabe credit or some sort of Power. The focus should be that Mwanawasa has served his country well, no matter what happens to his health.

The people in Rwanda join the rest around the world to wish President Mwanawasa well. We just hope the news of his death is just a bad rumor. Africa cannot afford to lose the only man who came out and openly told Mugabe of his evil.

That means you are saying Africa cannot afford loosing one of the Western puppets in the continent? I in no way wish his death, but the reason for this cannot be his challenging of Mugabe.

First of all I was really sad when I found out that he couldn't make it to Au meeting since he was our only hope for the Zimbabwean people who speaks of only truth and could tell Mugabe who is worse than what the whites were to us.And its so sad that there are still people that are being brainwashed by Mugabe about the puppet thing. When its other getting help from else where they are puppets but when he was getting help from other it was okay to eat and dine with the whites. And just because he has decided to be greedy with his cronies and corrupt and we don't want him anymore he is looking for someone to point fingers at!!!Please President Mwanasa get well soon because we still need you greatly. You are a hero not a Frenkeistein like Mugabe.

it is indeed disturbing to hear how people get excited with such a sad state of affairs. from my own analysis Mr Mwanawasa is among those african leaders who have come out in the open to condemn the baberic manner in which Mugabe has conducted the polit ical affairs in zimbabwe. May the almighty intervene and give our beloved long life

Gods ways are not our ways. God is the author of our lives and it is not over until it is Gods will. His Excellency the President, Dr Levey Patrick Mwanawasa SC, is alive and we shall continue to pray for him and for his recovery. May god grant the first family all the strength through this valley. Of course, as a nation, as Zambians, as peaceloving people, we were gripped with sorrow, fear and uncertainity when the rumour was spreading like a wild fire, We thank God that it is well. God Bless Zambia, God Bless the President, God Bless our Parents, God Bless our children.

It is a worrisome time for Zambia and indeed for the whole of Africa at the continued illness of President Mwanawasa. He is a man with GUTS who has stood up for what he sees to be very wrong in southern Africa, in particular Zimbabwe, when other SADC leaders have been afraid to be forthwith. In my book, he is a giant. We all continue to pray for him and his family and I am sure the president is appreciative of all the prayers, the solidarity, and just how much he is LOVED by his people. That alone says it all.
