"Hard earned Character". It appears that this phrase is the veil behind which each and every public official, who is prevailed upon to account for a behaviour that is perhaps unbecoming and at times indeed criminal, employs to avoid facing the music. Senator Innis assaulted a woman. In Liberia assault, common, malicious or with the intent to do grieveous bodily harm is a crime pure and simple. In this case, Senator Innis, having allegedly assaulted a woman proceeded to the police station and effected or cause to effect the arrest of his alleged victim, one woman paying twice for her presumed innocence. This at a time when a woman is President of Liberia. Senator then goes on to say that his alleged assault is the work of the devil, of course it is the work of the devil, the devil is evil and those who adhere to its dictate are just as evil. In this case and according to Liberian law, the devil is not only evil, the devil is criminal. Well if the rule of law is to have meaning in the life of the assaulted woman, Senator should be accordingly charged, indicted, appear in court, and be vindicated or pronounced guilty. I think their is a penalty for a guilty victim but I don't know what it is. Senator Innis if you committed the crime, then you must do the time. I just love this rhyme.
