Zimbabwe: Worm's Eye - Mugabe Seeks Tips From Mwanawasa - The Weekly Observer

President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe has for once admitted that he has something to learn from another African country. The controversial leader has always insisted that there is nothing any person or country in the world could teach him or his country Zimbabwe.

Author: GM- United Kingdom

It is clear that Mugabe is feeling the noose tightening judging by his acrymony. His words are so carefully seleceted not only to transmit bitterness but also to mislead people that he is totally in control. He would want a situation where Zambians become so emotionally charged with anger that they end up losing the peace they have ever so cherished. Need we remind him that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. We know the powers behind him and we shall wrestle just that. As for his words of bitterness, we can only say there is not much to profit from such words.Lets just ignore him entirely. Our priority is praying for the full recovery of our president and for the suffering people of Zimbabwe, who have no place in their own fathers' homeland.May God watch over his people in Zimbabwe. God bless president Mwanawasa

Ah! Not that I expected anything better from Bob but one thing is sure; the brother is heartless. I wish to point out that besides learning how not to die from the Zambian President, Bob has a lot to learn from Zambia and other countries in the region and beyond. For a start, Bob claims that Zimbabwe is being punished because of land reforms: I expect him to be aware that this is a wrong premise. One thig is most ex-colonies had similar issues at independence, but they resolved them amicably-without sinking the way Zimbabwe has. If only Bob can put aside his arrogance for once and listen to others, he will find that resolving Zimbabwe's problems would be a piece of cake.

Yes, it is very true Mugabe is Heartless, Arrogant, inmate, ignorant and he is Lucifer's son, coz there is no way a normal person a child of God could say such a thing to his collengue. We concluded that he wanted our president to be dead but someday oneday will be the other way round.

May the Almighty God Heal our President. Long Live Mwanawansa.

Why is it that Mugabe can't even appreciate what we are doing for his people who are in our beloved country Zambia right now? Supponse we start killing them (Xenophobia) like what used to happen in South Africa, where would be the peace,,,The Man (Mugabe) is Zero tolerance. Let him (Mugabe)go to hell with his stupidity. He is a controversial leader for nothing but something somebody in this world will teach him a leason. God bless Zambia

why anyone would give this senile old bastard a platform to mouth off is beyond me. Zambians are peace loving people, dont push us, coz we have opened up our home to the hundreds of displaced zimbabweans, no questions asked. so please leave our president alone, you're old enough to be his grandfather. pick on someone your own size, like Hitler!!!

Mugabe must go to hell. Our President is alive and we do not want a useless ,shameless ,barbaric and out of touch imbecile to ridicule our Leader. Mugabe must know that he lost the elections clean . This dictator must be tried for crimes against humanity. This must include Mbeki his shameless friend who also lost the elections of the ANC to Zuma.Away with such leaders who are making Africa a laughing stock

i think mugabe is the craziest person i Have ever come across. is this man sane enough to be president of a nation? i find mugabe's comments about learning from mr mwanawasa how to survive a stroke annoying, actually the comment was made in bad taste. i wish mugabe could be punished by God so that all those who have been trampled by him be there to give him the last laugh. the man is sick there is no doubt about it.i bet he has been wishing Mr MWANAWASA ILL. LONG LIVE LEVY

Author: Luwa

Goodness me! I agree that this statement was made in bad taste. There is nothing funny about Mwanawasa's illness. What is Mugabe trying to prove? He's only showing how insecure he is. I cannot believe this came from a president of a country. He should leave Zambia alone and sort out the mess he has created. We love our president, unlike him who is disliked the world over. May God bless Levy!

I am a Namibian. I spent 3 years in a refugee camp in the in the Rep. of Botswana. The people of Botswana were good to us as refugees. We were refugees from many different countries. There was a few people from Chad too. I have nothing but respect for the people of Botswana. The same goes for the people of Zambia, Angola, Tanzania, S.A. and Zimbabwe. There are more similarities than differences among the people of the SADC regions. Mugabe ruined his country, destroyed his people lives, cut-short their hopes and dreams. Now, he is exporting his hatred to the other countries in region. The amazing thing is, he has supporters outside Zimbabwe. People with low self esteem and low expectation for the continent.

Mugabe behave like a hasbeen diva. remebering the days when he was in a spotlight as a hero on the liberation charts. Those days are over. Streets, stadiums, buildings are named after him. He also have the lion's share if not all the money of the country. It is over.

On behalf of all peace-loving, God-fearing Zimbabweans, I would like to apologise to all the lovely people of Zambia for the reckless, devilish words of our former president and now military ruler, Robert Mugabe. Bad taste is mild way to describe such evil gloating over another man's misfortune, maybe he thought it was humorous? Obviously the people of Zambia love their president while we loathe Mugabe; for that reason may he have a speedy recovery and continue in his place, and may he live to attend Mugabe's funeral.

Author: prem

This hero turned blood-stained monster and illegitimate president of Zimbabwe, Mugabe, may not even get admitted to hell after death. The souls of all those innocent citizens of Matabeleland as much as those of the most recent political violence that he ordered to kill will haunt him forever.

Author: dumzi

We have a lot to let from politics. All the jostling that's happening infront of the media is political posturing. In his twisted mind, Mug is seeking legitimacy and on the other hand Tsvan is seeking moral superiority. Behind the curtains, a stage is being set for a more stable country. I say stability (security) before divergence of opinions is paramount. my only question why is the West so obsessed with a small mineral rich country in Africa. If they could spread their love(evangelism about democracy) all over the world, we would have less cynics. At the moment Zimbabwe doesn't need love (Maslow). It needs stability.

Author: Champion Mudala

Mugabe has trully lost it, which in my opinion is a shame not only to the Zimbabweans but to all Africans. Reasonable leaders are sending message of goodwill for the hard working Zambian president, Dr. P.L. Mwanawasa and he (Mugabe) is busy trying to joke about his neighbor and fellow leader's situation. I wish to make a call to those that continue rallying behind Mugabe to reconsider their position and evaluate as to whether Mugabe still has values remaining in him. Leaders are chosen by God and I think Mugabe has forced himself to be in leadership for too long that one wonders whether he is still among God's chosen leaders. For now I can only ask for serious prayers from God loving sisters and brothers for God's intervention on Mugabe. I say "Mugabe leave your neighboring Zambia alone and especially Dr. Mwanawasa".

Author: timepiece

Why do so many African leaders still respect Mugabe? Is it because the majority of them would not hesitate to use the same tactics to stay in power forever? Mugabe is a disgrace to Zimbabwe and Africa as a whole for taking away the dignity of a once proud nation. He ought to be told as much by his fellow ( rather gutless) African leaders, including the infinitely spineless Mbeki. Furthermore I personally think an example should be made of him lest, others consider emulating his shameful example.

Now President Mwanawasa may or may not be dying as a result his stroke, but his exit (should it be soon) will be a dignified one, full of respect for having scored a historical one for Africa - a willingness to stand up to Mugabe and search for solutions outside the rhetoric. As for Mugabe, old man that he is, his grey hairs will NOT go down to the grave in peace (or respect), and in case he thinks that is not too bad he will get to see his worst fears realised. Now how's that for a chance for the whole world to gloat?

What Mugabe has said is very unAfrican inhuman and shameful. To me it sounds like Mugabe is gloating at the fact that President Mwanawasa, who is one of his critics, has had a stroke. Let him gloat the animal that he is, but one day, HE will be lying in his bed dying and all the world will be on its knees praying for the devil to come and take him away. Disgusting animal. The little news we get state that Mr Mwananwasa is doing ok. So we ask the Zambian people not to loose heart and all must continue praying for Mr Mwananwasa.

Author: shakaman7

Certainly the bible teaches us Christians to love even our enemies. Tho am not sure as to whether Mugabe said those words about the Zambia’s pres or not, but the truth remains that everybody will at the end of the day carry his/ her own burden and pay the price for his or her deeds. My main concern is on the article’s writer futile attempt to liken Kenya and Zim situation. I for clarity purposes would like to point just a few facts out of many which i at present reserve,

Unlike Mugabe who has been wantonly and deliberately condemned before, during and after election, Kibaki has despite of all his shortcomings never been strongly vilified by the giants (we all know the reasons why).

While Raila was subtle, tolerant, strategic, collaborative and expressed esteem to African leaders when addressing matters to them. (I still like him very much tho totally disagree with his recent remarks against Mugabe which were he in my opinion made to achieve his political ambitions)Trasavangirai is on the other hand pointlessly vocal, collaborate and rely deeply on the western masters to the extent of being becoming a teddy bear president if he will leave to become one and above all does not show respect in the presence of African leaders something which is very significant. (have no hard feelings against him but don’t understand his real motives and moral values) While Tsavingirai victory was narrow and called for a second run, Raila’ s was very clear in all conditions and did not require a mathematical minded person to ascertain.

On the contrary and to the surprise of even all African countries some of which close neighbors and even confidants of Kibaki, the US were the first to complement Kibaki followed by the controversial Museveni. Hypocrisy.

Today Kibaki is sitting on the throne comfortably simply because he has so far done nothing to embarrass the great masters – you all know who they are.

Simply because ten of thousands innocent people who losted their dear lives during the Kenyan post election violence were not Britons or Americans. Simply because settlers in Kenya continues to siphon the country’ s economy.

Need I say more ?

Author: kjrs120

Shakaman, I get some of your points. The saying that 'blood is thicker than water' applies to both sides of the fence. When the racist South Africans and the racist Rhodesians were brutalizing and killing Africans, ALL Africans rallied together. Even if they had brutalized just one African, the condemnation of the racists by the Africans would rightly have been the same. Is it any wonder then that the whites have also seen red when Mugabe started brutalizing those white Zimbabwean farmers. A peaceful attempt can always be made to settle a dispute. It is the Brutalizing and killing that is the offense. Had the western countries sat back and did nothing, what do you think would have been the results? Mass burials of all those Zimbabwean white farmers. Mugabe like the white racists does not think twice about killing. Had the Africans sat back and did nothing about the racists, mass hangings and burials of the Africans would still be the order of the day. It is human nature to protect one's own that is why I find it so inhuman when people are so drunk on power that they kill their own.

Now there is absolutely no doubt that Mugabe is a very sick man in deed. First there is lack of insight in how politically irrelevant and illegitimate he has become to Zimbabwe and its political processes; then now this utterly disgusting utterances which can only come from a mentally sick person! Surely at his age Mugabe must be envying those of younger generation politicians who still have more time left to contribute to the Zimbabwen political reforms and development in the years to come. He appears to personify some species of primitive rulers of eras gone in history who would not die alone but have many other lives burried with them. Mugabe in his present state of mind would surely not hesitate to do the same and have some youthful lives burried with him when his time soon comes. In some parts of Africa, he would earn himself the accolade of being called a wizard, for that is in deed what you are Com Mugabe!

Ladies and Gentlemen the world over, here is the highest degree of senile and heartless in human being. This is ample proof to those who did not that "AGE HAS NO PRESCRIPTION" i am sure Bob could have gone to see his Chinese doctors over it. Wishing another man dead is taboo in our African culture if not the world over. One should remind Mugabe the madness that got into him and his cronies when Rtd Archbishop of Bulawayo, Pius Ncube prayed that GOD take away "this man" who have made Zimbabwe suffer, from that he may know that it is bad to wish someone dead because he indicated to him that "the country he is leading is a titanic sinking ship" which everyone is seeing happening. But whether his power comes to an end today or the morrow or whenever, he is capable of messing up your life in the meantime. So stop throwing insults etc at him. What do you hope to achieve by calling him names ? Personally l would not waste any time on people who seem incapable of coming up with solutions to current and future problems of water, land, education, food production, housing, wealth creation etc etc but spend their invaluable time calling president Mugabe names. You are providing entertainment to colonials and their supporters. But they, too, do not take you seriously for the Zimbabwe situation is a life and death matter. The end is near; it all sounds so macabre and sick. This is exactly what dictator Idi Amin went through towards his end. Every sane person should be concerned with the mental state these people -- African tyrants. This dude Mugabe is demented or is about to be. He cannot shed so much blood and not get nuerotic. What a pity to have this sick fool as a president for a country.

Mugabe "the dictator" is an evil bustard....he can't be wishing a president of good governance dead...In fact, Bob is got plenty to learn regardless of age.

Author: akapfunde1

President Mugabe has not put his face on Zimbabwe money nor has he erected some statue of himself. The president is not a dictator. Dictators are of the mould of European dictators like Salaazar of Portugal, Franco of Spain or Mussolini on Italy. Give us a break. Of corse Mugabe has made lots of mistakes and has made wrong turns, he is human for God's sake, this is natural. His problems is that he made enemies with the English. I do not remember any one who crossed swords with thw English and found peace even in death. Remember, the Kaiser's Germany, the Austro-Hungarian rulers, the Turks and their Ottoman empire, the Boers and France's Napoleon .... they all met their Waterloo. The English never give up. The Portuguese and the Belgians were able to keep their African territories intact only because they kept their tails between their legs. not only in the presence of the English but whenever they thought of the English the tails would go to you-know-where

What was President Mugabe thinking! This is totally out of context. This is too personal. This is Unafrican culture of reveging differences between two opponents. I mean "opponents" because Mugabe and Mwanawasa are opponents, but not enemies. I always and still believe that President Mugabe is very smart man who should see things succinctly than what I've read today. It's out of hand, and it worth any criticisms in all forms. It's cabal attacks to President Mwanawasa. Thanks God that Mwanawas is with us now. Let's be reminded that death has no friend...that all of us at some point in our life would die one day one time. Therefore, there are no acceptable jokes when it comes to death.

Author: kjrs120

Mugabe is arrogant, spiteful and mean. He is just a piece of dried up biltong that thinks it will live forever. One day he will wake up at the Engutcheni Mental Hospital because of the spirit vengeance of all the people he has killed in the Bulawayo area and of course all over other areas of Zimbabwe. Inwardly, Mugabe is just seething because President Mwanawasa had enough guts to tell him where to get off. To counteract that shame , he is being spiteful. See what happens when Mugabe does not get his way? Thank goodness there are sanctions against his travels otherwise the family and State of Zambia should not allow Mugabe, a serial killer, anywhere near Mr Mwanawasa in the hospital.

Your first sentence is very true but the rest is trash and emotional rubbish. It adds nothing to the debate as to what to do with all the problems of food production, industrial production, health and education etc etc which needs your attention when the president's rule comes to an end SOON! The man is 84years old. NDISEKURU WEDU. The era of his rule is certainly coming to end before long. Why dont you start coming up with solutions to the various issues or are you going to hand over the country to OXFARM or the Dept of International Development in the UK Gvt or whatever? You young bucks should start telling us what you are going to do. The future is yours. In fact, you are the future of Great Zimbabwe. You cannot run away from the challenges facing you lot by throwing insults at the old man. The end of his Gvt is around the corner, are you ready to lead or to be led again, perhaps this time by NGOs and their mother/national governments. WATCH THIS SPACE.

Securu akapfunde, I would be so happy to see Zimbabwe a great nation that is governed by a president CHOSEN BY THE MAJORITY of the people WITHOUT INTIMIDATION - a free and fair election. It does not matter who the Zimbabwean people choose, as long as they have the person THEY freely elected. As the world knows, this is not the case with your country. People are still reeling from the beatings they received and are still receiving.

Author: akapfunde1

Very true, muzukuru! What are you going to do about the stripping of the land of trees which are being sold by the new owners of the ex white farms. It seems that the cutting down of trees is the only successful business the majority of the new owners have carried out, Some of the farms look like settlements on the moon. What policies has the MDC on the conservation of soil, trees and water resources? Dont get me wrong, there are a lot of very serious farmers amongst the new breed of Zimbabwean farmers who care and are capable. God bless Great Zimbabwe with dynamic young Obamas who do not indulge in name calling and throwing insults.

If you had your way and mugabe and regime did with Zimbabwe China will be doing just that with Zimbabwe. China in 2008 is 50 years behind the west about caring for there people, if they do not care about there own people what do you think they care of Zimbabwe people!! Zimbabwe still mines asbestos and it has been banned for use in the West etc for years because it kills people.Do you not see it should be banned world wide? or do you think the world has stopped its use to hurt Zimbabwe, even when it is available around the world to mine! Zimbabwe would make more money getting rid of the asbestos world wide that they could from mining it!Only idiots in 2008 mine asbestos and China will help the idiots around the world to mine it because they are 50 years behind the rest of the world, and do not care for anyone. Zimbabwe would be better of letting the world conduct nuclear tests in Zimbabwe than mine asbestos, as less people would die from it.

Author: akapfunde1

SHUT UP, YOU!!! How do you mean "mining asbestos ... " Who mined at Mashaba and elsewhere? Was it Zimbabwe or you Rhodesians and your English masters

Author: kjrs120

Akapfunde, the years that asbestos was being mined, was LONG before it was known just how very dangerous asbestos was. It was known to cause silicosis but the degree of lung damage caused by this malady was not researched as much as it is now. Today, there has been so much advance in medicine, that many more diseases and their treatments are known. It was not even quite known at that time that asbestos also causes deadly mesothelioma. Akapfunde, your outbursts of telling people to "shut up" shows your lack of self-control. The West is completely RIGHT and knows what he is talking about.

Author: the west

I am talking about the mining of it NOW. The world now know its deadly like a lot of things it takes time to prove it fact.

Now stop looking way back as you will run into a wall!

Author: akapfunde1

Tell that to the Jews!! They are always looking back for guidance and they seem to be doing very well. Thank you.

Author: the west

Oh my lord akapfunde1, do you pick thing out of a hat for your answers? Israel whom i think you are talking of in your comment, because saying Jews is like saying catholics, Muslims etc etc does not talk about a country but a religion and all religion is based on history and not present day. Present day is what Zimbabwe needs not a government that bases its ruling on religion in the past tense. If Zimbabwe keeps thinking past tense it will die, just like religion is in all forms around the world because it is not thinking of the future and is thinking to much in the past. The world has advanced not because of religion but because of people that have pushed its boundaries and interpretations!

Why be a sheep in a flock when you can be a sheep in a flock that helps the rest of a flock to a better life. Say what you feel, not what someone else tells you to say or to feel! That is freedom!

You have nothing to lose. All you get is excitement. HOw do you forget about yes-years ... l was in England when Europe celebrated "VICTORY IN EUROPE" all over western europe. They were celebrating their victory over Germany over sixty years ago. No sir, one day you got to explain why you rhodies ran a racist country with the blessings of your white brothers. You destroyed all the foundations built by the likes of Sir Roy Welensky and Sir Edgar Whitehead. Now you wander why we ahve to take the land off the white farmers ...the rhodisia Front guys whose policies wasted twenty five years of the country , stagnated all development while the population was growing during that period. We shall not forget the past. You need to apologise.

Author: the west

Today who is the one who is going to help clean up Mugabe's dirty mess? Mr Tsvangirai, the very man you hypocrites said such nasty things about.
