President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Tuesday broke grounds for the construction of a National Cultural Center in the country. Performing the ceremony, the President said the celebration of Liberia's culture must involve the use of the country's soil for agricultural production.
As a Liberian living abroad, to read or hear about Liberia, not in the context of the Taylor-triggered horrors, often gives me some comfort that, indeed, authentic peace is gradually taking roots in Liberia.
The cultural center is a great idea; I am sure many Liberians are celebrating that gesture. My only concern is that too many times these kinds of developments rarely get out of the Monrovia or areas around it. We need something like that in the far east, say Sinoe county or River Gee County because the road conditions in that part of the country are the most deplorable of all, and if we have a place, like the proposed cultural center, in that part of Liberia, maybe the roads would be built to allow Liberians of all back grounds maximum access.

For a brighter future of Liberia, a Leader such as President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was needed and thank God that she is the President. Though she might not be able to read my comment, but I wish to take up this time to commend her for the job well done thus far. People may not see what she is doing because they are so very short sighted. As Liberia Marks her 161st Independence Anneversary, I say happy Independence day Mommy, May Our Good LORD continue to bless and guide you. No weapon form against you shall ever prosper in Jesus' name, Amen. Long live Liberia, Long live your Government. Peace
