ZIMBABWE's main opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai walked out of talks with President Robert Mugabe on Tuesday after Mugabe was unable to guarantee in writing that Tsvangirai would be head of government in a power-sharing deal, it emerged yesterday.
[ See Article ]
Does this actually come as a surprise to anyone? i could see this happening as soon as there was any talk of a government of national unity. Im glad Morgan walked out because he would have been getting nowhere with that Murdering Thug Mugabe!
Mugabe needs to realize that he has totally failed the people of Zimbabwe, and hang up his "very old boots". We cannot comment on the economy anymore because that has hit rock bottom, only to be buried with the President when the Lord calls him. He is certainly not thinking of the new generation, whose chances he ruined through poor standards of education, as he saw the educated to be a threat to his decade of one party state rule.
Mugabe needs to hand over the keys to the able minded and bodied men, who can reconcile the disaster that he has created, and who also can start the reconstruction process to revive the economy and people’s livelihood. Any alternative at this stage is much better than Mugabe's tyrannical tactics
How much more misery is his conscience allowing him to continue being unreasonable and not to mention the killings of innocent people who only just want to get on with decent living.
On the other hand – is he not ware that he is being ill-advised and humiliated by his younger Generals (well younger than him), who are using him for their end gain, so that when he passes – they can have a strong hold on power and continue lining their pockets at the expense of the poor people, without a care about regenerating the economy.
A deal seems to have been struck between the 99 and 10 seats. It is most obvious the 10 seats have been promised an assumed bigger slice of the cake, and what they do not realize is who they are dealing with. Once the 99 seats + 10 achieve what they want (the total being higher than the 100 seats), they will quickly revert to their own agenda, and the 10 seats will be sucked in without a trace. So 10 seats, be aware, as you sell yourselves for a song. After all theses years of fighting for the people and the country to be freed from this man, is it really worth sacrificing your ethics and what you stood for?
I begin to doubt the intelligency of the so called professors in politics. Just think of Jonathan Moyo, Welsman and Arthur. Jumping into the sinking ship!!
May, Prem and Negotiator, yes Negotiator many jumped in a sinking ship because their judgement was clouded and they were mistaken. Some still think that way and live in denial. All of you have spoken your mind and I can only support you...
Let us stand united against mockery, rape and murder of democracy and hold respect the dignity of the people of Zimbabwe. Its a matter of time as the rope is tightening around the neck of ZANU-PF and their murderous cronies with Mugabe as the head honcho. Mugabe is stalling the talks and dragging things on because he knows if Tsvangirai is in charge he and all his cronies will be turned into the ICC. But we have to be watchful if Uncle Bob cedes powers to Morgan...there may be the worst humanitarian backlash...the military will not step down or stand down and take orders from Morgan...a coupe d'etat may follow coz his unhappy cronies who he has used to silence the masses can no longer continue looting the coffers so they will retalitiate. We need the second Liberation of Zim and that one hundreds of thousands may pay with their life...Is Zimbabwe prepared and it the world prepared for this?
Dutch newsagencies report that the passport from Tsvangerai and two other MDC-T officials were confiscated at Harare airport when they wanted to travel to the SADC summit in South Africa.
Also on the website from BBCworldnews I read passports are taken from MDC and a full story behind it.Strange Allafrica does not come up with this news
What a rotten banana republic that lunatic & murderous Mugabe has turned Zimbabwe into? Weep, weep, sons & daughters of Zimbabwe; these are the desperate acts of a lunatic in his final days!
Mbeki had to intervene for Tsvangirai to be returned his passport! What a fickle Mbeki who continues to consider monster Mugabe as his comrade in arms?
Unless Mbeki can get the cheek to show the lunatic the door, he will also be swept into the dusbin of history for his apparent collusion with the lunatic of a banana republic!
Prem, your comments are way too one sided. If Zimbabwe is such a banana republic, why do you even both to comment, with your surpluos words! To you everybody, including President Mbeki are evil people because they are not doing what you want...Isn't that silly of you?
And who knows what you were doing during Southern Rhodesia. Was your family part of the murderous selous scouts? If so, why did you not condemn that. To me, you sound like a hypocrite who is trying to hide some murderous past?
Superfluous words? Come on dear Phiri and other Mugabe admirors!
Ask those bleeding Zimbas: - whose close relatives Mugabe has killed, maimed or raped if "murderer" is superfluous? - who ran away in millions to neighbouring countries whether "tyrant" is superfluous? - whether "lunatic" describing a president claiming to be "God-annoited" is superfluous? - whether calling Mbeki the "main culprit", pressing Tsvangirai to serve under Mugabe exercising executive power, is superfluous?
Mbeki, the evil? Yes, when he closed his eyes to the Zimbabwe crisis just because he considers Mugabe as a comrade in arm! Yes, when he closed his eyes on the necklacing and burning of Zimbabwean refugees in Jo'burg until NGOs raised awareness through world media!
Africa needs leaders who willingly promote and submit to public accountability. Nothing less will help Africa build a free and just society. Anybody supporting leaders with serious flaws and deficiencies (mental, emotional and otherwise) are obstacles to progress! It's not late for you to change your mind. So many have done so. Millions considered Mugabe a hero. Today, there are just his cronies who do not consider him a lunatic, a murderer, a tyrant, an usurper of power, a devil in disguise!
Where was I during the Southern Rhodesia saga? Well, I was just a kid in another country that was also fighting for its independence.
Prem, the biggest lunatic round here is one who spends all his time calling an African freedom fighter a lunatic and mindlessly posting unproven lies about said hero. Guess who that is? ... Bingo!
dLoser. When are you going to post a brain and realise you are supporting and condoning the murders of many many people by your support of Mugabe. What sort of person does that?
What makes you think, as a typical European does, that an 84 year African warrior would give a rat's posterior about facing some European court on some BS charges instituted by the West. What in his long history of fighting for African people makes you think that he would punk out about something like this. There are still a few African leaders with enough backbone to stand up for African rights(Mugabe, Mbeki, etc), the powerful western empire notwithstanding. Besides, this court has a lot bigger fish to fry before it gets to some bogus charges against Mugabe and his party. Even if Mugabe did all the things attributed to him by a generally lying western media(and their wannabes), it's small potatoes compared to what some white nations have done over the last few years. What is likely to happen, if some bogus charges are accepted by this court, Mugabe's many supporters in Zimbabwe will drive out the remaining settlers. Then the anti-Mugabe crowd will really have something that they can cry about.
Are you denying that Mugabe was responsible for the deaths of 20,000 Zimbabweans? Surely not. This is fact! And all crimes should be punished. Including this one.
"Author: awt_independent Are you denying that Mugabe was responsible for the deaths of 20,000 Zimbabweans? Surely not. This is fact! And all crimes should be punished. Including this one."
I'm saying just that, since any number that ranges from 7,000 to 20,000 over the years can be nothing but a non-fact. It is at best a guestimate of the number killed on both sides in putting down an insurrection. And even if the number tends towards the high end of the estimate, certainly anyone but a fool and/or propagandist can understand that when there is an insurrection in any country the number killed correlates with how large the insurrection is. And if you were old enough at the time to remember that this particular insurrection lasted over 5 years and it ended in the signing of the Unity Accords which is mainly the reason that there has been relatively little violence across group lines in Zimbabwe compared to other African countries in their implementation of so-called "democracy" in Africa. Just how democratic can you be when foreigners manipulate your elections.
So only 7000 people were murdered by Mugabe and his North Koroean forces? Why do you think thats ok? Whats your definition of Genocide?
"So only 7000 people were murdered by Mugabe and his North Koroean forces? Why do you think thats ok? Whats your definition of Genocide?" Are you too daft to understand the word "insurrection"? And 7,000, that's about a one-day bombing run by the West. Reliable sources says that Ian Smith's bombed and killed that many innocent civilians in a few weeks. Did you find that so abhorrent? Probably not. So why don't you get off your little soap box about the put down of this insurrection because anyone with any intelligence can see it for what it is.
So you're saying its ok for the russians to go through and kill 7,000-20,000 Georgians including woman and children because its an "insurrection"? What a joke. You simply cannot excuse the murders of woman and children in the scale. Its simply genocide.
And tell me exactly when you are referring to by your "one day bombing run by the west". What nonsense. I dont see you complaining about Russia's actions in Georgia. And tell us what reliable sources you are refering too about Ian Smith? Or once again I suspect you have nothing here.

I'm not saying anything about wheteher it's ok or not ok. What I'm saying is that if try to rise up against a sitting government you're likely to have many people killed, period. Can you understand that or is English a third language for you. Or would you be too stupid in any language to comprehend this.
"And tell me exactly when you are referring to by your "one day bombing run by the west". What nonsense."
You're right, actually this is a low-ball figure when you remember they once killed over 100,000 in one bombing run.
" I dont see you complaining about Russia's actions in Georgia."
You also don't see me drudging up some BS numbers about Mr. Mugabe refusing to be overthrown by insurrectionists either. These boards are about Zimbabwe and the West, not about Russia.
"And tell us what reliable sources you are refering too about Ian Smith? Or once again I suspect you have nothing here."
There are dozens of them, and when time permits I'll give you a few. You never realized that your hero was the real murderer in Zimbabwe, huh?
Haha you make me laugh. You really have no idea. Your comments just show you to be a fool.
Theres a differnce between people being likely to being killed and a leader ordering the murder of thousands of innocents. And to say 100,000 people were killed in one bombing run is just ludicrous! But I'm not surprised someone as dumb as you would believe it.
And its funny how you say these boards are about Zimbabwe and the west, but you mention, presuably, iraq. A little hypercritical dont you think?
And the Nbedele people Mugabe had murdered werent insurrectionists, they were woman and children also. And by supporting Mugabe, you have thier blood on your hands.
IF there are dozens, then why cant you give me one. Shouldnt take long if there are so many now should there. I'm not surprised though. You are just full of bs.

It's ludicrous to an idiot who doesn't know his history. Have you ever read about places named Hiroshima and Nagasaki, DA?
"And its funny how you say these boards are about Zimbabwe and the west, but you mention, presuably, iraq. A little hypercritical dont you think?"
I believe that the countries that destroyed the thousands of year old culture of Iraq are from the West, am I right?
"And the Nbedele people Mugabe had murdered werent insurrectionists, they were woman and children also. And by supporting Mugabe, you have thier blood on your hands."
Innocent women and children are always killed in wars, that's the main reason they are especially horrible. Just think of the millions of innocents killed in WW2, those killed in Grenada and Panama and more recently the thousands killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. And just in case you didn't know, an insurrection is a war.
"IF there are dozens, then why cant you give me one. Shouldnt take long if there are so many now should there. I'm not surprised though. You are just full of bs."
I forgot the question!
The UZ classes of the early 90s, to think we had such hope in AGO Mutambara. If someone had told us he is a sellout, we would have stoned him.But lo and behold! Remember these guys got farms, mechanisation equipment not to mention numerous other underhand deals, so now they must play ball. But Zanu Pf will condomise them and throw them into the rubbish bin they belong. What they do not realise is that perpetuating Zanu PF rule strengthens Zanu's hand and gives opportunity for another tyrant to arise and continue where Robert will have left. AGO and Welsh do not deserve positions, why, they even lost at constituency levels. They must not sell out to short-circuit their way to power, its shameful. Morgan, do the honorable thing, do not accept positions without authority otherwise when this GNU fails we also will be on your case. Unenge wadziya moto wembavha, siyana nazvo. Regai vagoni vatonge, inga vaka hwina wani?
What is Mutambara still doing in there and what has he got to agree to? Common sense please!
I am so sad but it was so predictable. Zimbabwe is being run by a military junta. ZANU-PF is an organization of thugs. No agreement of power sharing will be honoured by Mugabe and his people. Tsvangirai should go and form a government in exile. Let ZANU-PU and the military clowns, and the drunken "war veterans" implode. Run decent people of Zimbabwe for all is lost. Zimbabwe is a lawless place. Find a safe country. My beautiful Rhodesia is gone forever. I weep for the people.
mutambara smells like a power hungry and opportunistic sellout. The same snake that you seek friendship with will shove weapons of mass destruction up your a** once you sign anything that does not include Tsvangirai.
To prem. You should know that phiri's brain cells are dying faster than those of mugabe.Just focus on the facts and don't let late bloomers(no,he or she never bloomed at all) try to muzzle your voice which is an echo of the Zimbabwean people
Jigy(?), you sound like a stupid fool to me. You real have nothing to contribute in the discussions. I have no time for fools like you!
Cry the beloved Zimbabwe. And, looking on from across the ocean, years ago, I too hailed him as a conquering hero, a brother deftly designed to blow away the Ian Smith smears and years...as well as Smith's predecessors. Now, I cry. Who has truly lost their way? Who would inflict such suffering on their own kin? Who would use every strategem to conflate failure as "western-influenced" and "a tool of Western antipathy?" A really stout, and unfounded, bow to unreality. More for Morgan.
When the end is bad, it over-shadows all the good things one has accomplished in life. Really Zmba used to be an earthly paradise in the mid 80s until 96 under the same man. We were riding along the real growth phase. it would make sense then to invest and live in Zim, but now----------------------.
How much of a crook Mbeki is turning out to be as an impartial negotiator?
Why did he not continue exercising control over the ANC after he was voted out as ANC President? Why then does he condone lunatic Mugabe continuing as the illegitimate President after the shal election run-off?
By manoeuvring for Mugabe to cling to executive power, Mbeki is disregarding the will of the majority of Zimbabweans. And that is very dangerous for the future of Africa.
Mbeki must disqualify himself. Let murderer Mugabe and cronies continue moving into the jaws of the ICC. In the meantime, neighbouring countries must provide shelter and assistance to the commoners not wishing to live under the terror of lunatic Mugabe until another liberation war allows them to return as free citizens.
