President Mwanawasa, was a great leader in Africa and he leaves behind a legacy of bringing Zambia into a modern ideal democracy. His courage to speak his mind, while remaining true to himself, will be missed greatly. When the world asks about new democratic leader in the continent of Africa, President Mwanawasa will always stand tall. His was a deep African version of democracy, one not born of the western world arm twisting, but naturally based on African values. Yes, we can say there is democracy in Africa and we the sons and daughters of Africa can point to President Mwanawasa.

President Mwanawasa can never be accused of sucking up to anybody or the western world, but to the people of Zambia and Africa. That is the shape of democracy many of us have longed for. The one that is borne by the sons and daughters of Africa. One that looks back, but firmly holds on to the future of Africa. President Mwanawasa was that ideal African country President. DEEP CONDELSCENCE TO THE GREAT PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA.

This sort of thing challenges me to do the best I can for the virtues President Mwanawasa stood for. His belief in individual freedoms, in democracy; his love for peace and political maturity; these virtues he lived and fearlessly he spoke his mind. May many more like minded leaders emerge to fill the void. May the good Lord strengthen his family in this time of grief.

Laugh, Laugh Mugabe! Another Western ally is no more!

Zambians as much as freedom loving Africans are weeping the untimely death of Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa. He was indeed a hero to all those who have been unrelentlessly calling for our leaders to denounce dictators and murderers. He was amongst the few who recently plucked courage to align his country with civil society activists and the Zimbabwean victims of ferocious Mugabe attacks in their call to dump Mugabe into the dustbin of history.

Lunatic Mugabe got so annoyed that he wished Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa dead after his recent stroke.

Laugh, laugh Mugabe.

We do not know whether people would shed any tears when your turn comes.

Anyway, history books will underline in gold the pivotal role Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa has played in boosting the struggle across individual African country frontiers for freedom, justice and genuine democracy.

Peace be on you!

We will continue the struggle you boosted so effectively till we rid Africa of all lunatics, murderers, heroes turned bloodstained devils sucking the blood of their own children of the soil they were supposed to protect.

Yes, Mugabe, you certainly had your arrogant laugh. What are nations of the world going to say about YOU as the devil lifts up your soul to eternal hell when you die? The world will rejoice and say "GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH. Thank God the murderer is no more and may his soul rot in hell" and Zimbabwe will celebrate with song and dance. To the people of Zambia, the worlds' prayers are with you at your great loss. Your leader Mr Mwanawasa was indeed a great man and a champion of democracy. May his soul rest in peace.

Again, you guys would do well to keep your unfounded lies and bad minds to yourselves, particularly on such a solemn thread.

the custodian of the emmerging Zambian civilization has passed on at a time when our todler nation needed him most. it is had to believe that weeks of national prayer for his quick recovery could not serve our beloved leader from the jaws of death. the quality of time and considerable stokes of credibility that went into any decision made by this great leader were a paragon of virtue, than which there could be no nobler duty and higher aspiration. the lord who gave us a loving parent of a president will still provide his successor: one in whom the nation will continue to have complete confidence. never has an man been sio capable of leading the Republic of Zambia towards the proverbial promised land. never has any man been so capable of upholding the human rights of the citizens with primary care and concern for his sternest critics. a big loss it is but we wont forget that on the fields of misery are sown seeds which on other fields and at other times bring forth good fruits. the government at Lusaka will now be guided by the almighty God to preserve that which Levy so ardently stood for. Rest in Peace Ba Taa beshi Chipo, ndalila ndela.

With deep sadness I read the announcement of his passing and also your heartfel comments about our beloved Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa.

Please permit me to say that as an international figure I personally know that the greatest burden on his heart with the crisis and hell that Mugabe has subjected the poor Zimbabwens. He has fought for Democracy to be come to. Let us hold vigil that his fight for Zimbabwe and Africa was not in vain. Let us together carry the torch he has lit as a man that understands what the true meaning is of democracy. He knows first hand how many Zimbabwen refugees have flooded Southern African countries and his own. Mugabe has abused this man so badly. Mugabe got his blood pressure up by his arrogant, belligerant and defiant behaviour. Mugabe will pay for all his crimes. He, hios family, his cronies and all those that have blood on their hand will never have rest or peace even in their grave even for future generations to come. That curse will be on them for being such murderers.

To: -- Yah Ashantewa ------ “Mugabe got his blood pressure up by his arrogant, belligerent and defiant behavior”----- Your message seems to have gotten lost in the translation. It undermines your own efforts of mourning his passing. Instead of building some strength and carrying on the struggle to do good for the cause Mwanawassa fought to better the life of common people like us, you prefer to insert Mugabe and give this fool (Mugabe) more credit than he deserves. How is that? Can you throughly substantiate you claim with verifiable facts? Or simply emotions got the best of you? One is puzzled as to why you are inserting such a charge in your message. Understand that he had enough friendly western governments and still does as we speak, who may know more about his death than you do. Did you really have a chat with Mwanawasa at some point or sit in one of the meetings with his political cabinet officials when he was still with us in space and time? You are playing us, African people, small in this respect. You can accomplish more with humility in a tragic situation like this.Focusing on the good things Mwanawasa did to energize people in our struggle would serve us better

My condolence to the President's Family and to the Nation of Zambia for loosing such a fine President. It is a shame that Such a leader with so much to offer will leave us at such a tender political age. Unlike in Zambia where people are mourning for this lose, ironically many citizens in other African nations will rather wish their own Presidents to die. Cameroon is a case in point.

It is a shame that a sitting African President should die in far away France, instead of in his own country.

This sad state of affairs has been necessitated by the lack of adequate medical facilities in Africa, and instead of our leaders developing the health sectors which are the ultimate engines of economic growth, they are so short-sighted that they ignore this very important sector of any civilized society.

When they fall sick, they are ready to spend a fortune to be flown to other countries for medical treatment, still refusing to recognize that their citizens who cannot afford expensive overseas treatments, are left at the mercy of the inadequate medical facilities that these leaders so shamelessly neglect to develop to appreciable standards.

I shed no tears for a short-sighted President who dies in another country's hospital. He was no better than the average Zambian who cannot afford to even pay for a doctor's visit, let alone pay for his/her prescription.

Such is the lot of the African who is being ruled by clueless and shameless charlatans.

For those that new him as the attorney during those years before he was president, most will agree with me that Levy was one honest person. Many people may have judged him in different ways during his presidency, but there is one thing that is common knowlede to everyone, Levy had a heart for mother Zambia and we will truly miss him.As they say, its not what you take when you die that matters but its what you leave behind.Levy 's life was a testament and from it we have a lot to learn from. May we as Zambians mourn this great man with honor and dignity.May God be with the first Lady Maureen, mirriam , Patrick and the youngers ones too and the entire family.Rest in peace your Excellence.

Not many could have had the courage to do what you did in fighting corruption, entrenching discipline in the civil service, and advancing economic development. You demonstrated fearlessness, integrity, hard work and a genuine and unselfish desire to prosper the nation of Zambia. The results of your hard work are self-evident.
