The Herald (Harare)
27 August 2008
A VISITOR would have been forgiven for mistaking it for a high school gathering going by the raucous behaviour, infantile interjections and heckling that went on as President Mugabe delivered his address during the official opening of the First Session of the Seventh Parliament of Zimbabwe yesterday.
[ See Article ]
This is rubbish, nonsense, trash, gibberish, fakol e.t.c - Typical of a bitter man who is taking his anger on people simply expressing their opinions! He needs to grow up and realise that his illegitimate president is nothing but a desperate dictator who has run out of ideas !
Whoever wrote this artcle on Zimbabwe is one of the people killing innocent people in Zimbabwe, why is he bitter? What is so special about Mugabe? He does not represent the majority of zimbabweans? That Parliament is not a ZANU PF caucus where you hero worship him. He has failed us Zimbabweans we just do not like him including a person like you who is anti-zimbabwe.
guys lets not beat about the bush money is the real bitch here in this situation. firstly a journalist knows his rights, how can one cunt of a journalist say there were hooligans in parly to that motherfucker i say its time we put our rights fisrt. freedom of speach being one of them not hooliganism thats propaganda crap. because they are getting a lot of money to write these lies they dont know that they are about to kill generations of journalism in Zimbabwe.FUck the situation we all need to wake the fuck up.... there is jus to much corruption running this country. May GOD help our hungry souls tafanenzara(we are dieing of HUNGER)
The Mugabe dictatorship continues as does his illegitimate rule as seen through his latest actions of arresting elected officials of the MDC party and withdrawing from agreements he made in inter-party talks to withhold convening Parliament. By his actions, it is unclear if Mr. Mugabe hopes to continue down the road he has led his country which has brought unprecedented poverty, inflation and isolation from the majority of Africa. What is certain is that his short sited actions brought on by his ineffectiveness to run the country will serve no one but those interested in removing him from his self appointed mantle of power. In the only free election over the last year the people clearly asked for change from Mugabe rule, yet as a testament to his military backing and his ability to play to nationalistic pride through fear tactics he remains in power for now. Hopefully, the will of the people and not Mugabe will be seen sooner than later so that Zimbabwe can begin moving toward becoming a respected nation again.
Mugabe is a brutal dictator supported by cold-blooded killers in the Zimbabwean security forces. Getting heckled is a drop in the ocean compared to what he should be getting. He deserves no honor and he deserves no respect. He is a diabolical despot and has no mandate to rule. Africans' comprehension of the basic tenets of democracy must be questioned when most of the regional leaders wholeheartedly support Mugabe. Another curious fact: In Africa a white man who kills one black man is far more guilty than a black man who kills a thousand of his brothers. Suffering under incompetent, corrupt and brutal regimes appears to be a continental pastime.
Congratulations to the son of the soil LOVEMORE MOYO, an offspring of the Great ROZVIs. Makorokoto/Amhlope!!!
Aluuta Continua ! Ah Ah Aha , yes Lovemore is a loving chap ! Hehehe , Funde ? Kabanga ?
Akapfunde, what a tribalistic hypocrite you are.
Tribalistic??? what do you mean???EXplain ...
You are letting your emotions mask you good self. Dont let your anger and frustrations, to which you rightly entitled. make mistake the tree for the wood. Look at the whole picture ..life goes on.
You are letting your anger and frustrations mask your well meaning young mind. Please do not mistake the trees for the wood. Look at the whole picture. It looks like it is going to take some time for our new MDC MPs to realise that they are NOW MPs not MDC activists out in the street. The sooner they come to their senses the better. They have a lot of work to do and goodies to deliver to their electors at large. Now is the time to show us what your abilities ... WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD guys!!!
The writer of this article does not appreciate the significance of the booing and the chanting in parliament by those who have been voted in by and who represent the people of Zimbabwe. It is they who speak for the people. If there was any rule of law left in Zimbabwe, Mugabe would not have been walking into Parliament like a king, he would be behind bars.
Readers, I am sure you are perceptive enough to see that the words of this article are not on the side of justice but that it speaks only to defend violence and absolute power in the hands of an angry man who will tolerate no rivals. Be perceptive like the leaders of Zambia and Botswana, see through Mugabe. See that it took great courage for the opposition to boo Mugabe. They speak out to protest against the harassment and torture that they have experienced personally. No doubt they will pay for their courage through further harassment.
It is Mugabe, not the Opposition who has show the ultimate disrespect to Parliament. He has not allowed the people of Zimbabwe to vote freely. He has crowned himself king. The Opposition cannot use the courts, they cannot use the vote of the people and they cannot use the police or the army to bring justice. To honourably serve the people of that bruised country who voted them in, it is surely their duty to show disrespect to this man.
Tunde..well said!!! That zvayi is letting his anger and bitterness at having been booted out of bots affect his judgement..if he ever had any to start of with in the first place!
You are right but its all yesterday. Lets deal with the current position. How the Zimamwean politicians come to an agreement. Stop going on about tyhe elections being stolen or being unfair. That may be true. But what in needed is action to stop the suffering of the masses. If ZANU and MDC wont agree, send a delegation to Perth, Western Australia to beg the rhodies to come back and form a caretaker gvt and leave ZANU and MDC to bicker for ever. The rhodies are capable of delivery of good economics. I am serious.
I have met old Rhodies on my visits, they don't care any more , let the flat tyre fix itself !
Makasa..dont you just love the idiotic irony of akafunny's post?? He chides me to move on from the past stolen election story which by the way is only a few months old..then quickly accuses people of wanting rhodies(decades forgotten) to come and run zimbabwe! ha ha ha. I will repeat again...it is fools like this that reinforce the unfounded prejudice that us africans are thick!!! I wish they would keep their donkey ass views to themselves and spare us the blushes!!
I GOT YOU!!! Are you happy now? I was trying to get you going .... of course l am pro ZANUpf and l see nothing wrong provoking the enemies of Zimbabwe. Long live His Excellence the President of Zimbabwe, Robert Gariel MUGABE.
akapfunde 1 - have you had an epiphany? For so many posts you have ranted about the 'war criminals hiding out in Perth, Australia' and now you want them back to rescue the Zimbabwean economy!! Wonders never cease.
The article is correct. Anyway you look at it, the newly elected Speaker failed in one of his first duties; to keep decorum in the House.
Do us all a favour and watch Prime Minister's Questions in UK and then come back and comment. Mugabe got kid glove treatment if you ask me. Speaker was just letting people express their disgust at a theiving little thug clinging by all means possible to power he stole!!!!
First off, in case you have failed to notice, Zimbabwe is not a constituent of the United Kingdom.
Secondly, there is complete silence in the House at the Prime Minister's speech during the opening of Pariarment in Westminster.
Thirdly, if MPs in Westminster behaved the way MPs behaved during the opening or at at any other time including Prime Minister's questions, they'd have been called to order by the speaker in Westminster. For those comments that were out of order, MPs would have been censured in Westminster, and for those MPs that failed to accept censure, MPs would have been ejected from the House by the Speaker. That's how thing work in the UK, fyi.
http://uk.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUKL2693352120080226
The newly elected MDC speaker in Zimbabwe failed to maintain decorum.
selector: First off, in case you have failed to notice, Zimbabwe is not a constituent of the United Kingdom: I think you should be making mugabe aware of this because he devoted most of his speech to his usual tired tirades against the uk and usa.
But more to your supportive argument of the useless article by the Herald. yes there is decorum and respect in during the opening of parliament and it is out of respect for the queen. Afterwards though the queen's speech is verbally "torn" to shreds by the opposition to much jeering and laughter from opposition mps and and even sitting mps too. Speaker normally lets it go. but then we are talking about a democracy...not the dictatorship of mugabe where mps get arrested prior to entering parliament on nefarious charges and are still being held somewhere with no release or court date in sight. No wonder the mdc mps were peed off and the mdc speaker let them vent their anger. I know I would have too!!
Selector: the Speaker in the UK would not have an illegitimate Prime Minister address Parliament. If Mugabe was fairly elected, every Zimbabwean would have had a problem with the behaviour of the MDC MPs. But since Mugabe himself is a joke of a President he deserves the jokes thrown at him by MDC MPs. Mugabe disrespected the institution of Parliament by going there to masquerade as President of Zimbabwe. According to the current constitution of Zimbabwe (even in its current defective form), the President of Zimbabwe is elected by Zimbabweans in a fair and transparent election. Mugabe was not fairly elected by Zimbabweans. The commanders of security forces told all Zimbabweans who cared to leason that they will only allow Mugabe to be President of Zimbabwe. The military commaners did not end at their statement, they unleashed massive violence, threats and murders to frighten people not to vote for Tsvangirai. Mugabe is a head of military junta who does not deserve the respect you want MPs to accord him. If it was not for fear of his blood thirsty security forces, Zimbabweans would not have hesitated to march to State House to remove him from power.
Was Gordon Brown elected to the premiership?
selector - Mugabe's address to the House of Assembly was provocative in the extreme. Knowing that he had a national audience on television he chose to put his myopic view of the world forward including comments to the effect that there is the agreement - you can like it or lump it and MDC violence was every bit on a par with state orchestrated murder and mayhem (which the UN Security Council said it was not). He got what he asked for. If he really wanted the negotiations between the parties to succeed he would have been far more conciliatory. Do not blame Lovemore Moyo for Mugabe pouring fuel on the fire.
I find it amazing how people are getting exercised by the inaction of the Speaker to get the mdc mps to tone down their jeering. here we have a geriatric that has ordered the deaths of opposition politicians as though he were sending for pizza and not a word of protest against him. Shame on you!!!!
Childish Mugabe? Rotten lunatic Mugabe!!
He was lucky he got off with shoutings only! Illegitimate Mugabe had nothing to do in Parliament!
He may soon be the subject of parliamentary impeachment in due course for showing his disdain continuously to the will of the majority of Zimbabweans. Had it been the last century, perhaps MPs would have had to put up a scaffold to hang him. MDC MPs are more civilised, however!
But how long the public can contain its anger against the criminal who has brought down the economy to its knees and who still has the gut to rely on dubious talks to cling to power!!
The pomp with which he wasted precious resources to stupidly show how British the prorocols could be for the opening of parliament has turned him into a laughing stock of the whole world. Maybe his fans, like Aka.., Phiri and Co are so upset at the way he makes overtures towards the West with his display of the Rolls Royce that they have lost their own voice!
Watch out how the MDCs will outwit him in his own game!
The MDC should have man enough NOT to even go to parliament and be sworn. Logically, this should have been a continuation of their boycott of the second presidential elections. What are they doing, answering to a call by His Excellence, the President of Gt Zim, Robert Gabriel Mugabe, to attend parliament and at the same time pretend that RMG is not control. The fact is RMG called and they came in droves. Whats more need to be said? They cannot eat their cake and have it. How puerile and childishof them. Of course, there are a lot of very able MPs amongst their lot ...they all have to decide whether they are to run the country or merely continue shouting SLOGANS and infantile expletives. One would expect that behaviour from the angry youths of either party ... not from our rulers..for thats what these MDC MPs are now. Why bother go to parliament if you are only going to play to the gallery of Anglos.com? GROW UP and lead the country. We are all looking up to your constructive contributions to the rule of law which is, unfortunately, is non-existent in the country through failures of the ZANU administration. Of course no one is above the law, even MDC MPs. They should be arrested, tried and sentenced in a court of law if some of their number forget their responsibilities. GROW up and diliver the pledges you made to thw voters.
At least they don't murder people for having a different opinion ! Boos don't kill , mugabe and his scum do !
Tunde, we applaud those MDC who courageously and proudly booed the murderer and arrogant barbarian Mugabe. No one believes the Herald anyways because it is constantly spewing Mugabe's crap. Mugabe has shamefully crapped on the people long enough.
"Illegitimate Mugabe had nothing to do in Parliament"!
Reality check: you'd do well to look up the definition of illegitimate. If Mugabe is anything, he's legitimate.
LOL, legitimate? Mugabe's ANYTHING BUT legitimate!!
Caesar Zvayi must be daft or blind or both. So Mugabe was heckled. What a transgression. Killing MDC supporters, however, seems to be OK with Zvayi. But heckling Mugabe is unacceptable. Why? Could the heckling be a reaction to how Mugabe has brought Zimbabwe to its knees economically, socially, politically and internationally. He is smothered with shame and is certainly not the same man who led Zimbabwe decades ago. He is old, demented, decrepid and holding on to power at the expense of all Zimbabwens. And having idiotic mouthpeaces like Caesar Zvayi writing about his vaunted leader just goes to show that Mugabe and his ilk need to be swept out of power, the sooner the better. Mugabe has become a dictator, and not a very benevolent one, either. Hopefully the leaders in the military will see that a future without Mugabe will make the nation stronger and help a change in the government or lessen their support of that aging and bumbling fool. It will happen sooner or later and then writers like Zvayi will crawl back into the dingy holes they came out of.
This rotten Zvayi is the very spy lunatic Mugabe planted at the Botswana university!
He has sold his soul to devil Mugabe in exchange for a villa and a western-made car!
He will soon appear on the infamous list! He will soon have to save his skin, stupid Zvayi!
Mugabe isn't the elected president maybe that is why they wouldn't listen. He kills 6 year old kids because their parents vote for a honest man. Ridiculous.
John
"Mugabe isn't the elected president maybe that is why they wouldn't listen".
Yes he is.
Selector my man- I gather you're saying Bob is legitimate because he won the run off vote? Have you read that ALL the election observers stated the run off vote was conducted under conditons that did not give rise to a free and fair vote? oh and in addition to the fact that bob was the only candidate. So then according to SADC laws (which Bob himself signed up to) no one can declare himself president until such time as a free and fair election is conducted. Then again there's not much rule of law in Zimbabwe at the moment> so what's a law got to do with declaring yourself President?
Will, what you fail to accept is that neither the AU, SADC or even the UN have called the run off elections 'illegitimate'. There's a reason for that.
But they all called them neither free nor fair....
So what are these reasons?
Obviously because they were not free and fair, prevailing conditions at the time saw to that. That hasn't stopped them from being legitimate.
Yeah, I guess nothing was written into the constitution saying that if you beat and murder your own people then you cant win. Does the fact the run off election was run after the 3 weeks as required by the constitution make the election result illegitmate, and therefore mugabe is an illegitimate president?
This post was deleted because it contravenes AllAfrica's commenting guidelines.
A genuine news network that covers events about Afraka for mostly Afrakan audience, or just a tool of the west? It is obvious that AllAfrica.com, its whole staff and contributors are agent of the slave propaganda mouth-piece of the enemies of Afrakan proples. That, it's OK for some psychopath, clearly, an insignficant being to post on allafrica.com site advocating for the assasination of Mr. Mugabe is all cool and appropriate.
Some months ago, I commented on an article in which I praised Afrakans as great and mighty people, who can take our own destinies into our own hands with the right information and proper understanding of global issues. In that piece, I implored Afrakans to endeavour to see the world that we live in from our own perspective, rather than from the eyes of the "international ccommunity". AllAfrica.com saw that piece as "hate speech" and took down my comments.
Now, we know on whose behalf and interests you proud yourselves as serving!

This is an article from the Herald. It's the ruling party's main mouthpiece in Zimbabwe, and is supposed to lend credibility to the regime. But it fails in that endeavor, as it never attempts to even fake that it has a neutral point of view. The fact of the matter is that the opening of parliament has gone disasterously for Mugabe, as he has been humiliated.
Morever, this article neglects to mention that Mugabe's thug police tried to make a mockery of the opening of parliament by arresting duly elected members of parliament. He is a disgrace. The Herald is a disgrace.
Mr Zvayi's comments clearly show his role as "President" Mugabe's sock puppet. Why should the members of Zimbabwe's parliament respect Mugabe? They were elected by the people of Zimbabwe; Mugabe wasn't. After he lost a relatively free and fair election, he manipulated the election commission to force a runoff and then brutalized the opposition with killings and beatings to prevent people from running or voting against him. The ZANU-PF members who didn't heckle him stand convicted by their inaction with complicity in the beatings, rape and murder of innocent Zimbabweans who dared to oppose Mugabe's corrupt, incompetent rule.
This zvayi prat is the same idiot who had "absconded" across the border to botswana in search of a better standard of life before the motswana authorities revoked his work permit and sent him packing! If even anyone was in doubt as to his lack of fitness as a lecturer this article more than proves it!! As someone else has already pointed out on here..zvayi is nothing more than a glove puppet of mugabe and zanupf!
What are you talking about Herald? Mugabe was given the reception a fool in denial deserves!
In as much as I'm against Zanupf's president and all it's supporters,MDC really showed once again that they are as irresponsible ,as foolish and as ignorant as zanupf Mp's.Zimbabwe is doomed.
You are mistaken, there was a murdering thug at the podium and he went back to the stolen presidential palace.
This is obviously a Zimbabwe government lackey writing this article. Only a hypocrite who earns his living spouting Mugabe's rhetoric would write an article like this. Everyone in the entire world knows why they booed him in parliament. Because he stole the presidency from the legitimate candidate!
This article is mere propaganda put out by the Mugabe government and written by their complacent servants at the Herald, who wouldn't know real news if they saw it because they've been regurgitating Mugabe's dogma for far too long. What a joke of an article writer!
Caesar Zvayi must be Mugabe's Monica Lewinski. It's rather hard to tell what else is going on when you on your knees under the presidents desk. Well great job Caesar!
chaster..top man my man..right on there...the dude is well and truly on his knees rendering presidential service...ha ha
More Zanu-PF proganda drivel from the STATE-OWNED/RUN newspaper, the Herald. Hopefully international readers will understand that this is MUGABE's PROPAGANDA MACHINE in action and NOT the voice of the people. The vast majority of Zimbabweans chuckled and were VERY well-pleased with the 'heckling' of Mugabe----the illegimate dictator of Zimbabwe. Most of us only wished they had been hurling more than insults.
Who is this guy? Who is paying him? Who is paying this site to print this stuff? What childish lamenting! What sour sentiments. What sore losers!
There is a term for people like the author of this article. The term used in America is "Toady". It means "one who flatters in hopes of gaining favor". Suddam Hussien had "Bagdad Bob"... The Murdering Pig Mugabe has this fool. One day in the future when this group of gangsters is brought to justice we will see how these animals hold up during their execution. They will scurry like cochroaches and find that justice may be slow but in this life or during eternity in HELL these animals will find that justice will embrace them... Let's hope sooner rather than later.
I am lost on what this guy, Zvayi is trying to say; why does Zvayi think the MDC were supposed to respect Mugabe who is no longer a president of Zimbabwe? Yes, Mugabe has power and is Zimbabwe's ruler but is he a legitimate president? Didn't Mugabe say the gun is mightier than the pen? Didn't his people maim, threaten and murder MDC supporters to get the 'victory'? Didn't Tsvangirai withdrew from the contest because of the violence perpetrated by Mugabe's people and to protect his vulnerable supporters? Mugabe and his top party officials also had the guts to declare that Tsvangirai's win would be a nullity as he would not be allowed to preside over Zimbabwe. Mugabe is not a president. He is in the same class as Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Kamuzu Banda, Mobutu Sese Seko, Idi Amini etc. In short, he is a dictator. A blood thirsty tyrant who disrespects the expressed will of his people. The MDC MPs should not allow Mugabe to rest till he strikes an agreement with Tsvangirai, the legitimate leader of Zimbabwe or resign. To Mugabe, I say "it's not yet too late to do what is best to save Zimbabwe. Resign now and restore your legacy. If the General Chiwengas want to rule Zimbabwe, let them rule it. Refuse to be part of it. Otherwise we will start to think that it's you who is putting pressure on the generals".
Ceaser you really deserved to be chased from Botswana. Surely Tswanas could not endager their students by having such a person in their midsist. Bob had no business masquaranding as the President since that issue has not been resolved. Also heckling and jeering are nothing for what he deserves which is eternal burning for the thousands Zim who perished from his goons. The MDC block are stars. debating issues is very differnt from listening to Bob. Mind you in 1980s the same ZANU MPs booed and heckled ZAPU and. Ask others the late Ruth Chinamano almost got beaten by Teurairopa Nhongo in pa. Oh I forgot you were in your nappies and with your hero worshiping you could not have researched that far.
There is no doubt about the dangers of state controlled media!! Those who would otherwise be good reporters and commentators are reduced to impossible levels.
My regrets.
Coming from the government spokes person and press you cant expect a better assface to write this dumb stupid article
