I have read/heard no evidence that these attacks were not tribal in nature,ie."Lets go beat up on some Shangaans today.
The rootcause of xenophobia in SA rests squarely on the shoulders of Mbeki. His indifference towards the likely problem that millions of Zimbabwean refugees could have posed to the country due to the terror lashed out by dictator Mugabe is the main cause. Had Mbeki stopped the folly of criminal Mugabe, millions of Zimbabweans would have stayed back and that would have meant most of them voting MDC. The lunatic would have been swept off for good.
Mbeki is the main culprit for lighting the fire of xenophobia in SA.
