ZIMBABWE is on course to surpass its production target for flue-cured tobacco of 130 million kilogrammes for next year as seed sales have gone beyond 400kg.
Yesssss, Believer, ZimPatriot.
The days when self-interested, greedy non-Africans could fool good-hearted Africans and come as wolves in sheep's clothing are long gone. None shall come as thieves in the night and steal again in the name of democracy as they oppress black Africans.
Long live independent Zimbabwe and, depite everything, long may she prosper!
I think the saying "counting your eggs before they've hatched" comes to mind.
A bit premature for celebration I feel.
And besides. Its written in the herald. Its probably all lies anyways.
I hate to agree with you, awt, but your point on counting chickens is totally fair.
Regardless, if we all think positively, perhaps we can help to 'will' success on Zimbabwe. ;-)
I see that I have a namesake. And you think like me. My exact sentiments indeed! Do we not have some self-respect at The Herald? Don't be slaves to political propaganda, think!
Zimpatriot, if those tobacco farms that you say are going to produce a bumper crop had been given to you lot in a fair way because you were Zimbabweans and not only just because you were zanu-pf Mugabe boot-lickers, then we would have great cause to celebrate your optimism. Keep in mind that "mother of all seasons" is not programed by Mugabe. I hate to burst your bubble, but it is all programmed by mother nature. It is too early in the game to predict what the rain patterns are going to be in Zimbabwe as you do not have the tools with which to predict such as ground radar, satellites or even a farmer almanac. So, making sly remarks when AWT is so rightly suggesting to you "not to count your chickens before they hatch" shows that you too know that those who produce Mugabe's mouth-piece, the Herald, do not know the difference between their front sides and their backsides.
Have one of the highest yielding broad acre farms in the world that has been the highest yielding for 50 years, i can tell you the "mother of seasons" will never happen in Zim with the seed and fertilizer system and farming practices that are now being used. The yields in Zim would be far lower than 50 years ago in my district because Zim is using 50 year old farming methods and has the same supply of seed and fertilizer that we did 50 years ago. Zim farming has gone back into the dark ages and will take a very long time to even get back to production of 15 years ago let alone catch up to the rest of the world, without some seriously intensive outside help. Show me 12 tonnes of Sorghum or wheat a hectare non irrigated{dry land farming} and i will tell you thats not even the "mother of all seasons" here. I would happily help the good people of Zim that are farmers become more productive, but most farms are now not held by the good people of Zim, no matter what the colour of there skin etc.For the most part the current crop{excuse the pun} of Zim farmers do not care about best practices and keeping the soil the best for years to come.Hopefully one day soon there will be and i will jump at the chance to help.
That is how intelligent we Zimbabweans are! The seed is not yet in the ground, yet we know we will surpass all records!
And we will grow more tobacco with less seed than last year! Take that, all you bitter Rhodesian racists!
Here comes another Mother of All Seasons!
