The mayor of the central Mozambican city of Beira, Daviz Simango, declared on Thursday morning that he will indeed accept nomination as an independent candidate in the November municipal elections, following the decision of his party, the former rebel movement Renamo, to ditch him in favour of Renamo parliamentarian Manuel Pereira.
