I want to comment about this article,( where are our wise men) Infact, when ever I read about whats happening in Nigeria today on line, I always cry,that my beautiful country is going down,little by little.You see person like Alhaji Jakande just brought out the matter of Mentro line, that have been over, due for long time.When this great man was about starting on this project,long, long, time ago, the other political party were feel bad about this.Now today we all see the transportation problem in Lagos. Infact to me it seem that the lagosian are ungrateful to all what Jakande did in Lagos.Since we got independence, I had never see any good goverment. The only good goverment we had was Buhari and Idiagbon, when every body sit tight,war against indicipline, all the state governor were doing the right thing, all of them were very, very,good.They knew the country was very sick and they gave out the medicine.That time every thing was working fine,the country started to change for good.After they overtrow this goverment, things started to fall apart again.Beside these people, Yakubu Gowon was another good goverment.We should stop deceiving our self, unless we go back to Buhari and Idiagbon,ideas.Beside this nothing will ever workout.We all complaning that Militery is not good for the country, but the civilian goverment are the worse.We still have good Militery officer, this is the only way out.No body will ever come out with good ideas because they fear of not to be killed, it has happen to so many people.Wise men and wise women are still around, they fear the wicked people around.I wish Nigerians good goverment and good leaders that know what is good for the Nation and also God protection for all the leaders. The mass surfering is too much,the whole world is watching what is going on in nigeria.Now the president was talking about nucler energy,this is a good thing for the country.The country have been in darkness for too long.I remember when Papa Awolowo said he will leave us in darkness, and the country still in darkness up to today.Infact we should not allow religion to debar the country from progressing and moving forward.Both Muslim and chritian must come together for the progress of this country. All governor should be meetting at the capital every two, two months to discause about the coun try moving forward. There must be a watch dog for what everybody doing. I wish all Nigerians good luck and good goverment.

A very brilliant article as are many others published in various media. Nigeria's problem is political/structural. Nigeria is an artificial state without a common purpose; without which we can never achieve a sense of patriotism. What the present structure breeds is a crop of desperate and unscrupulous buccaneers. We need to revert to a proper confederation of 6 geographical regions as already identified, do away with states completely, retain the present local government structure and have a very weak centre with responsibility for foreign affairs and national security only. Regions should generate their resources and shall have a right to self determination in the use of their resources save for a general contribution to the centre. We should have autonomous regional police with A “DPO” per local government area that should be an indigene of the local government. We should have three legislative lists where the regional legislature shall prevail in case of any conflict on matters on the concurrent list. The wise men shall emerge only when all the above have been put in place.

One of the numerous problems of Nigeria is lack of respect and obedience to the rule of law, greed and selfish interest. Reverting to proper confederation is not just enough. The rule of law should be respected. It is often said that the court is the last resort or hope of the common man. It will be a very difficult task for Nigeria to be restructured politically and otherwise. A house that is not united in any form, without purpose......and almost a no man's land where anything goes. Honestly, I cry for my beloved country - Nigeria. We have wisemen, even more than three! If I am to sight an instance of a wise man, then I will begin with Donald Duke of Cross River State. There are losts to be learnt from this single body. Be that as it may, Nigerians must be patriotic without which any positive change will be almost difficult.
