Some Black people confuse being anti-white with being patriotic. Some Zimbabweans confuse being a Mugabe supporter with being patriotic.....But let me just give you a few facts on the land issue.. Lancaster House imposed the 10 year clause which sayed "willing seller willing buyer". THIS EXPIRED IN 1990.

The Zimbawean government made it compulsory that any one who sold a farm had to offer it to the government first. So they had first choice on any farm being sold.

The British did make available funds for land aquisation. In 1999 the Zim government was still sitting on £4m of this .

In 1999 the Zim government owned 77 vacant farms aquired for resettlement using British money.

225 farms were sold or leased to undeserving individuals as exposed by the Margaret Dongo List.

The Zimbabwean government was selling land to foreigners. ie Arizona Farm sold to David Stevens who was murderd by so called war vets in Mrewa.

The Compulsory Land Aquisation clause in the rejected Draft Constitution was inserted into the current constitution so there was no reason for the violent invasions. According to the constitution the Zim gorvenment can takeover any farm it wants.

Just some of the many facts that You might have not known or choose to ignore due to the prejudicial blinkers that you wear. The majority of Zimbabweans suffered during Rhodesia and they still do so today under Zanu PF. ZANU's ideas have failed dismaly over 28 years and the people of Zimbabwe have a right to choose who to lead them. Bush and Blair do not cast the ballot in Zimbabwe, Zimbabweans do. Afghanstan and Iraq have their own problems with the West, that is no excuse for an African government to brutalise its own citizens.

Well, I certainly was wrong and am shocked that the American bail-out bill has been defeated. The consensus was that it would pass as SO much is at stake. It is evident that no matter what, the lawmakers will continue improving this bill as the bailing of Wall Street also means the bailing of main street and the stabilization of world markets. The Speaker of the House Mrs Nancy Pelosi and her Democratic party are committed, but it is now up to the Republicans to vote in a bipartisan way to facilitate this vital passage. Meanwhile the ripple effect is global and wishing a worse situation to other Western countries means certain death to Africa.

In the USA, the months of October usually see flat markets anyway and it will take approximately 45 days before we start to see the effects of this huge pay out locally and abroad. It is a lesson to be learned that even poor or rich, if there is no proper control and regulation of that money, whether spending, borrowing or lending, you can wake up in serous trouble - not just you but all those affiliated with you.

Harare, Munich to revive ties

A THREE-MAN delegation from Harare City Council leaves for Germany this week to discuss reviving the twinning arrangement between Harare Metropolitan and the City of Munich.

The delegation will also seek to convince their German counterparts that they should not cancel the twinning arrangement as was being proposed in some quarters arguing that twinning would benefit ordinary residents of Harare.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Emmanuel Chiroto, who will lead the delegation, confirmed that Munich deputy mayor Mr Hep Monatzeder had invited them to Germany over the twinning arrangement that was suspended a few years ago when Harare City Council was run by a Government-appointed commission.

Clr Masiye Kapare and a member of the Combined Harare Residents’ Association will accompany the deputy mayor.

When the twinning arrangement came into effect in 1996, Harare received a refuse collection plant, equipment and vehicles, some of which are still operational.

Clr Chiroto said he would impress on their German counterparts the need to assist the city in improving refuse collection, water and sewage treatment.

He said preliminary discussions with

Munich officials had indicated that a city district was prepared to partner with a suburb in Harare.

The partnership would see the district taking charge of clinics and schools with emphasis on the provision of critical resources such as drugs.
