On January 1, 1960, East Cameroon, the former French Cameroon became independent and was known as the Republic of Cameroon.

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with your point of view about october 1rst 1961, or January 1rst 1960.
Kamerun is only one country resulting from the german protectorate agreement of 1885.
The loss of the first world war by Germany resulted in the division of the country in two parts. Why ?
Normally, Kamerun was independent since 1916, when Martin Paul Samba got the indepencance act from Bismarck and the Kaiser of Germany Wilhelm II.
But before his arrival in Kamerun, the independance act was taken from him, and this decalration was not read in the country.
Although this independence was not officially proclaimed in 1916, the country got his freedom from colonisation in 1919, as one country ruled by United Nations ancestor SDN.
Kamerun has never been registered in United Nations as two countries, but one.
From this point, you can't say today that the history of Cameroon begins with the Republic of Camerooon. This is intellectually dishonest, and doesn't take in account the fact that the peoples of those two sides of Kamerun, administered by French or British are the same.
The ruling of Kamerun in UN has always been international (UN) and has never banned the one Kamerun of 1919, at the end of the first world war.
Pardon e to be straight, but what you said has hurt my knowledge and the real historical process we all know.
