Koigi wamwere is very right with what he is saying. Suppose someone came to kenya to launch a book about mcain. Would you advocate for his depotation i dont think so actualy you will be cheering him on. This double standards is what is killing democracy in the world. Freedom of expression applies across the board. It is not in your powers anymore to judge what is right or long. You say what you have to say then you also allow me to say what i have to say also.
"MMr Wamwere said that Dr Corsi's book was not banned in the US and that Kenya could not pretend to be "more democratic than the West"." Why not? Why does the Kenya government feel obligated to defend the actions Kenya takes to safeguard its social integrity, its sovereignty and its national security? Does Wamwere think that the foreigner in question, a private citizen, had a right to be in Kenya? Not even an official of a foreign government reserves the right to be on Kenyan soil.
Has the USA government felt obligated to wring its hands over their action against Kenya's ECK officials?
Does Wamwere love Kenya? Why does Wamwere hate Kenya so much that he would pal around with terrorist known to have denied, maimed, raped, tortured and killed his ancestors and compatriots - by the millions?
To what extent is Wamwere familiar with life in the West, say USA? As far as we know he was a beggar-ward of the state while he lived in Europe. Did he notice social equity in that western country?
What exactly does Wamwere understand by "democracy" and what country in the west measures up to that definition?
Perhaps Wamwere can tell Africans this: Whay does he think that Africans cannot "pretend to be "more democratic than the West""?
On a frivolous note, one may wonder if Wamwere's inferiority complex is so complete that he cannot even bear to "pretend" without permission from the west.
Can we expect an empty debe to be well-informed? Perhaps he can start by reading the annual report from the various organizations on human rights in various western countries.
