Almost a month after the global credit crisis began, King Tarry-A-Doer finally found his voice to address Nigerians. This guy reminds me of the story of Rip Van Winkle - An amiable man whose home and farm suffer from his lazy neglect, he is loved by all but his wife. One autumn day he escaped his nagging wife by wandering up the mountains. After drinking some liquor, he settled down under a shady tree and fell asleep. He wakes up twenty years later and returns to his village. He finds out that his wife is dead and his close friends have died in a war or gone somewhere else. He immediately gets into trouble when he hails himself a loyal subject of King George III, not knowing that while he slept the American Revolution has taken place. During the 2007 campaign, King Tarry-A-Doer promised to declare a state of emergency on fixing Nigeria’s collapsing infrastructure ranging from power, healthcare, transportation, schools, etc. Almost 2 years into his 4-year mandate he is yet to declare any thing but was busy reversing the little good works left behind by his predecessor. Now that the source of meeting those lofty goals are diminishing, King Tarry woke up to realize that he lack the wherewithal. A wise man ought to know that “A stitch in time saves nine….”
