Oh get real, the Zimbabwean economy was structurally flawed in 1980, it was built by and for the white minority who, guess what, have mostly left, taking their enterprise and knowledge with them. Many whites may still be bitter about losing Rhodesia but it was inevitable and to be honest it cost the whites far too much to try to hang onto it. No white Zimbabwean or ex-Zimbabwean I know seriously wants a return to the bad old days of having to fight a war they couldn't win. The ones who couldn't handle a black government left before 1980, those who stayed, wanted to. In the 80's, instead of pragmatically carrying out the much needed economic and land reform, Mugabe and Zanu allowed corruption, graft and lavish expenditure on luxuries and weapons and god-knows-what for the new ruling elite to flourish. Inflation was already stupidly high in the 90's when Mugabe was still feted by the West. No, 28 years of MISRULE and MISMANAGEMENT by Zanu PF are more responsible than the targeted sanctions, or the MDC, for the state of Zimbabwe today. Come off it Akapfunde, Mugabe's had TOTAL power for too long to claim that all the problems are caused by someone else. When you hold all the strings, you alone are responsible for the mess caused. Point of correction Kjrs120, Tsvangirai was not "drawn" into the unity talks but begged to be included. He had to sent emissary after emissary to meet with the President so that he could be part of the govt. You also know that he criss-crossed the continent begging African leaders to ask President Mugabe to consider him in his government. Being a democrate and a forgiving father that he is the President said "after all we are all Zimbabweans". Now after being accepted Mr Boycott is now demanding what he does not deserve. AS for the genocide of 20,000 Ndebele people and the murder of over 100 MDC supporters during the elections, both of these criminal acts have been well documented, and even Mugabe doesnt deny them. He even called the genocide of the Ndebele people a "moment of madness". Direct quote from the Butcher of Harare, so doent even try to disrespect your fellow Zimbabweans that were murdered by saying these deaths were falsehoods. They will come back and haunt you, so I hope you can sleep well at nights!

A dissident is someone who actively challenges an established doctrine rule or law. Mugabe killed these people because he accused them of being dissidents to his laws but what YOU are actually saying in fact is that the 'dissidents' killed themselves. Wrong word. Replace "dissidents" in your statement by the name "Mugabe" and you will be correct. Now going back to democracy - did you look it up? Well let me explain. Democracy is mainly based on two principles which further encumber other applications. 1.All people of that society must have equal access to power. 2.All people of that society must enjoy universally recognized freedoms and liberties. What Zimbabwe has had under Mugabe's madness is tyranny of the majority with no freedom of political expression, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and there is no due process as Mugabe has bribed all the judges. Money to build, repair, and farm, a peaceful and a fiscally responsible environment that will be inviting to other nationals to come and invest money in your country by manufacturing and exporting to earn that much needed foreign exchange.
